YOU MUST INSTALL THE U-HANDLE WHEN USING BRUSH OR CLEARING BLADES. A METAL
SHIELD IS REQUIRED FOR ALL BLADE USE. You must read and understand the Operator's Manual and
Trimmer/Brushcutter Safety Manual before installing or using this kit. Failure to follow all instructions, or operation
without specified shield, handle, and harness, can result in serious personal injury. The type of blade used MUST
be matched to the type and size of material cut. An improper or dull blade can cause serious personal injury. Blades
MUST be sharp. Dull blades increase the chance of kickout and injury to yourself and bystanders.

  • Page 2 INSTALL U HANDLE AND HARNESS RING Tools Required: 8 mm x 10 mm Open End Wrench, Screwdriver, 4 mm Hex Wrench, 19 mm Wrench. Parts Required: U-Handle Assembly, Harness Clamp, Lower Handle Bracket, Lower Handle Bracket Clamp, 8 mm Square Nut, 8 mm x 55 mm Long Hex Head Bolt, 8 mm Flat Washer, 5 mm x 30 mm hex socket bolts (3), Plastic Cable Clamps (2).
  • Page 3 Install U-Handle assembly on lower bracket (I), and secure with one (1) 8mm x 55mm bolt and one (1) 8 mm flat washer (K). Do not tighten bolt securely until final adjustments are completed. Install power head and align gear box, power head and U-handles. Tighten all screws.

    Check throttle for freedom of movement and that Wide Open Throttle/Low Idle Extremes are adjusted properly. The throttle linkage can be adjusted by turning the adjustment fixture (C). Consult with your Echo Dealer for correct adjustment procedure. IMPORTANT If non-standard monofilament heads, METAL/PLASTIC blades or cultivators etc., are used, THE CARBURETOR MUST BE RESET or...

    STARTING INSTRUCTIONS Installation of the U-handle kits on units requiring wide-open throttle start (starting with throttle trigger fully depressed) requires the following changes to starting procedures: 1. Lightly place knee on drive shaft to stabilize unit during starting. Do not apply excessive downward force, or damage to unit can occur.
