2 Important Notes
The alarm unit corresponds to all required directives of
the EU and is therefore marked with
Protect the unit against extreme temperatures
(admissible ambient temperature range -20 °C to
+70 °C).
For cleaning only use a soft cloth, dry or slightly wet;
never use chemicals or aggressive detergents.
No guarantee claims for the alarm unit and no liabil-
ity for any resulting personal damage or material
damage will be accepted if the alarm unit is used for
other purposes than originally intended, if it is not
correctly installed, or not repaired in an expert way.

Defective rechargeable batteries do not belong in the
household rubbish; always take them to a special
waste disposal (e. g. collection container at your
retailer).

3 Applications

The alarm unit SAG-14 combines a siren and a strobe
light. It is used as an audible and visible alarm device
in alarm systems and is both suitable for indoor and
outdoor use (weatherproof aluminium housing of pro-
tection class IP 65).
The alarm is triggered via a normally closed contact
(NC contact) in the alarm control panel. Due to the inte-
grated rechargeable battery and the independent
module, an alarm can even be triggered if the power
supply is interrupted. As a further safety device, the
unit features a tear-off loop which will trigger an alarm
when the alarm unit is forcibly removed from its place
of mounting and an anti-tamper contact which will trig-
ger an alarm when the housing is opened.
The alarm duration of the siren is limited to max.
3 minutes so that the legal provisions relevant to alarm
duration for outdoor installations in the Federal Repub-
lic of Germany will be observed. The strobe light,
however, will not be extinguished until the alarm con-
trol panel has been deactivated after an alarm.

4.1 Grounding and lightning protection
For outdoor installation, directly mount the alarm unit
to the wall of the building at a height not exceeding
20 m above the ground so that no lightning protection
will be required. In this case, grounding via a copper
.
conductor of ≥ 1.5 mm
contact surface
equipotential bonding of the building's power supply.
This will protect the alarm unit at the same time against
electric noise fields.
When mounting the alarm unit to a place above the
eaves, to a pole, to a wall bracket, or to the upper edge
of the building, protect it against lightning according to
the German VDE 0185 regulations or the regulations of
the corresponding country. For grounding, use a cop-
per conductor of ≥ 16 mm
If the alarm unit is to be put out of operation
definitively, take it to a local recycling plant for
a disposal which is not harmful to the envi-
ronment.
