Carefully remove the joystick sub-assembly and gaiter A
from the chassis B.
8. Remove and discard the gaiter. Note that the gaiter may
be attached to the joystick sub-assembly or the chassis.
5 Component Inspection
Contamination
With the gaiter and retainer removed, inspect the visible
joystick mechanism for signs of ingress, including signs of
liquid residue and solid debris.
Deflect the joystick shaft in all directions so that the inside
of the joystick mechanism can also be checked for signs
of debris or ingress. If there is any sign of contamination,
the complete remote module should be replaced or, where
appropriate, returned for service by a Dynamic Controls
service centre.
WARNING!
– Unauthorised cleaning of the joystick mechanism
or application of unsuitable lubricants may
adversely affect the performance of the joystick
mechanism, creating a safety risk for the user.
Spring Retainer And Shaft
Fig. 5-1 Spring retainer and shaft
While the gaiter is removed, check the condition of the
spring retainer A and shaft. Check for signs of physical
damage, including deformed shafts and cracks in the spring
retainer. Ensure the spring retainer's locating pin B is
secure and not protruding from the retainer. Note that the
mould-parting line on the spring retainer is normal and not a
sign of damage.
If any part is damaged, loose or missing, the complete
remote module should be replaced or, where appropriate,
returned for service by a Dynamic Controls service centre.
