Relay Module „RM100-3 RE"
Order No. 75 15 00
Intended Use
The relay module is intended for installation into the universal smoke detector "RM100".
It expands the function of the smoke detector by a changeover contact with a capacity of up
to 30V=/1A (DC) or 42V~/0.5A (AC).
With this changeover contact, the smoke detector can e.g. activate lamps or address alarm
systems/alarm diallers/alarm signalling devices.
This changeover contact provides an NC as well as an NO contact. The relay contact is
potential-free. Connected devices must therefore have their own voltage/power supply.
Any use other than that described above could lead to damage to this product and involves the
risk of short circuits, fire, electric shock, etc.
No part of the product should be modified or reassembled.
All safety and assembly instructions must be observed without fail!
Also observe the operating instructions for the universal smoke detector "RM100" and the
safety and installation notices contained therein!
This product complies with the applicable National and European specifications. All names of

Safety instructions
In case of damage incurred by disregarding this instruction manual, the
warranty claim is void. Liability for any and all consequential damage is
excluded!
Nor do we assume liability for damage to property or personal injury,
caused by improper use or failure to observe the safety instructions. The
warranty is voided in these cases.
• If, during mounting, connection or installation, you are not sure or you have doubts about the
type of function, contact a specialist.
• The unauthorized conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible because of
safety and approval reasons (CE).
• The product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children.
• Do not leave packaging material unattended. It may become a dangerous toy for children!
Installation
• If the smoke detector is already mounted on a wall or ceiling, remove the upper dome of the
smoke detector by turning the upper and lower domes carefully against one another
(counter-clockwise, fixed locking of the upper/lower dome is only possible if batteries are
inserted!).
• Loosen the two attachment screws of the module cover and take it off.
• Remove the batteries inserted in the smoke detector.
• Insert the relay module with the socket strip (3) into the 8-pole pin strip of the smoke detector
until the catches on the side of the casing fix the module in place.

2 = socket strip
3 = connection clamp
1
Make sure that the 8-pole socket strip (3) of the relay module is placed exactly
on the pin strips of the smoke detector. Only when all the pins of the smoke
detector have been inserted in to the module's socket strip can faultless
functioning be assured.
• For connection of the relay contacts in the connection clamp (2), only use rigid installation
cables with a wire diameter of between 0.4 and 0.8mm.
• Pass the cables through the opening of the lower plate and fix them in the desired length with
a cable binder at the support of the lower plate (see instruction manual of the smoke
detector).
Do not cut the cable to short! Replacing the batteries is only possible with
difficulty then.
• Insulate the ends of the able for a length of approx. 6 mm.

• Extract the locking pin from the cable clamp (2) o f the relay modules a little and insert the
insulated ends of the cable into the clamps.
Depending on the wiring (NC/NO contact), use the corresponding clamps (see
figure 1). The contact assignment is also imprinted on the circuit board of the
relay module.
• Press the locking pin into the cable terminal so that the cables are fixed in the cable terminals.
• Fasten the module covering with the two screws.
• Insert three Mignon batteries (AA) with the
correct polarity into the three battery brackets.
There is a corresponding diagram in the
battery compartments; observe also figure 2.
• After inserting the batteries, the red pilot
lamp/LED on the smoke detector will flash
approx. every 48 seconds and thus signals
that the smoke detector is ready for operation.
• Insert the smoke detector by turning it clockwise into the mounted lower dome. For correct
positioning, the red triangles in the lower dome and in the smoke detector will help.
The cables have to be conducted through the opening of the module covering to
the outside. Make sure that the cables are not squeezed in by the seal when
placing the smoke alarm on to the lower cup.
Excess cable can be stored in the module shaft in front of the cable clamp.
Please note:
Without inserted batteries, the two parts of the housing (lower cup/smoke
alarm) cannot be locked for safety reasons!
• Now perform a function check as described in the operating instructions of the smoke
detector.
In case of an alarm, the relay module may react with a delay of up to 8 seconds
to the smoke detector.
The relay automatically switches to the initial position if there is no more smoke in the smoke
chamber or by pressing the test button for approx. 2 seconds.
Disposal
Dispose of the product at the end of its serviceable life in accordance with the
current statutory requirements; e. g. return it to any suitable collecting point.
