g) Remove branches in sections.
h) When working overhead mind falling clippings and make sure that these cannot affect your work
or injure you. Remember that falling clippings could bounce of the ground.
ATTENTION! The extendable pole saw has the capacity to cut through branches which could kill
you and other people when falling down.
i) Before you start working remove any debris from the ground to avoid tripping.
j) Always stand in a secure position and keep your balance.
k) Always keep extension and connecting cables behind the saw or away from the cutting area.
l) Only use spare parts approved by the manufacturer, in particular with regard to the chain and
chain guide.
m) When cutting branches, be aware of a potential kickback.
Once the branch is partially cut, it can fold downwards and pinch the chain.
Causes and Operator Prevention of Kickback
Kickback may occur when the nose or tip of the guide bar touches an object, or when the wood
closes in and pinches the saw chain in the cut.
- Tip contact in some cases may cause a sudden reverse reaction, kicking the guide bar up and back
towards the operator.
- Pinching the saw chain along the top of the guide bar may push the guide bar rapidly back
towards the operator.
- Either of these reactions may cause you to lose control of the saw which could result in serious
personal injury. Do not rely exclusively upon the safety devices built into your saw. As a chainsaw
user, you should take several steps to keep your cutting jobs free from accident or injury.
- Kickback is the result of tool misuse and/or incorrect operating procedures or conditions and can
be avoided by taking proper precautions as given below:
- Only use replacement bars and chains specified by the manufacturer. Incorrect replacement bars
and chains may cause chain breakage and/or kickback.
- Follow the manufacturer's sharpening and maintenance instructions for the saw chain.
Decreasing the depth gauge height can lead to increased kickback.
n) Always keep proper footing and operate the chainsaw pruner only when standing on fixed,
secure and level surface. Slippery or unstable surfaces such as ladders may cause a loss of balance
or control of the tool.
o) Carry the pruner switched off, by the front handle, the chain pointing forward. When
transporting or storing, always fit the guide bar cover. Proper handling of the chainsaw pruner will
reduce the likelihood of accidental contact with the moving saw chain.
p) Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease. Greasy or oily handles are slippery likely
to cause loss of control.
q) Only cut wood. Do not use the chainsaw pruner for purposes not intended. For example: do not
use for cutting plastic, masonry or non-wood building materials. The use of the pole pruner for
operations different than intended could result in a hazardous situation.
r) The chainsaw pruner is intended for cutting trees and shrubs in private use. The chainsaw pruner
may not be used for felling trees.
(C) Additional safety rules for Brush Cutters & Grass Trimmers
a) Wear eye protection and gloves.
b) Never allow children or people who are not familiar with these instructions to use the machine.
c) Stop using the machine when people, in particular children or pets, are nearby. A minimum 15m
distance is recommended.
d) Only use the machine in daylight or bright artificial lighting.
e) Before starting to operate the machine and after any impact check for signs of wear and tear or
damages and have the necessary repairs carried out. Never use the machine when the protection is
damaged or missing.
