5. TESTING OF THE SYSTEM

Once the pipes have been installed, including all pres-
sure fittings, a test of the system must be performed
in accordance with current regulations and before any
part of the system is permanently covered.
As far as Italy is concerned, the regulations in force as
at the date of publication of this document are:
• UNI 5364:1976 - Hot water heating systems.
Rules for presentation of offer and for testing.
Of particular note in point 3.1.8 is that a leak test
be carried out by bringing the system to a pressure
higher than 10 kgf/cm
testing, and maintaining this pressure for at least 6
consecutive hours.
• UNI 9182:2014 - Hot and cold water sup-
ply and distribution installations - Design,
installation and testing
For point 26.2.1, cold hydraulic leak testing and
point 26.2.2, hot hydraulic leak testing, please
refer to regulation UNI EN 806-4.

6. WARNINGS

1. Do not perform continuous pressing in order
not to overheat the pressing machine and
jaws (see also the pressing machine manual).
Every 50 pressing leave the pressing machine
to rest for at least 15 minutes.
2. Do not re-use fittings that have already been
clamped.
3. Do not tamper with the tools.
4. Check the tools regularly for correct opera-
tion.
5. Carefully read the Instruction Manual sup-
plied with the pressing tool.
6. Keep pressing machine and jaws always
clean.
7. In the event of pressing joints with threaded
connections (e.g.: flanged elbows with female
threading), use the provided grip-wrench
during tightening, to avoid deformations and
tensions.
8. In the under wall systems, to avoid corrosions
and stress corrosions phenomena (happen-
ing in the presence of humidity, chlorides,
ammonia vapours, highly reactive hydraulic

• UNI EN 806-4:2010 - Specifications for instal-
lations inside buildings conveying water for
human consumption. Installation
Of particular note in point 6.1.3 is the description
of the method for testing plastic pipes (including
insulated pipe).
• UNI EN 1264-4:2009 - Water based surface
embedded heating and cooling systems -
Installation
Of particular note in point 4.3 is the prescribed leak
test to a minimum pressure two times higher than
the maximum, with a minimum of 6 bar.
For further details, please refer to the appropriate
regulation.
It is recommended, however, to always consult
the regulations in force in the country where the
installation is being carried out.
binders, etc) it's recommended to provide
the joints insulation by the means of proper
materials (insulating tape/band, etc).
9. For the heating and water/plumbing systems
you must arrange to have the appropriate
safetydevices installed (expansion tank
safety valve
) to avoid pressure levels from
rising above the maximum values established
for multi-layer systems or hammering.
Freezing of the fluid being conveyed must
also be avoided.
Such phenomena can in fact cause damage
or the breakage of parts (pipes, joints,
accessories, etc.).
Attention!
Do not effect couplings with tapered or
uncalibrated cast-iron threads, because the
high closing torque would damage the female
brass couplings.
Teflon may be used to provide the seal. Hemp,
too, may be used as long as the quantity is
correct.
