MAINTENANCE

WARNING: Cleaning the HEPA/Activated Carbon Filter with water will damage the filter and
REPLACING THE HEPA/ACTIVATED CARBON FILTER
Depending upon usage and environment, we recommend you change the HEPA/Activated Carbon Filter
each season but no less than once every 8 months. The unit will keep track of how many days your filter has
been working.
• Open the front panel by pulling it gently forward at the edges
• Carefully remove the washable Pre-Filter and gently vacuum dirt and debris if needed.
• Remove the HEPA/Activated Carbon Filter and replace with a new HEPA Filter (Replacement Part
#49892).
• Replace the washable Pre-Filter and snap back into place.
• Replace front panel.
• After the HEPA/Activated Carbon Filter is replaced, press the Filter Timer to reset.
CLEANING THE EXTERIOR SURFACE
Wipe clean regularly with a moist cloth and mild household detergent. Do not splash water directly onto
the dehumidifier.
CLEANING THE WATER BUCKET
The water bucket should be cleaned regularly to prevent the growth of mold, mildew and bacteria. Clean
water bucket with warm soapy water, rinse and dry thoroughly before reinserting into the dehumidifier.
NOTE:
Failure to properly maintain your Guardian Air Home will decrease its efficiency and air flow.
Filter life is based on average air content. Some filters may need to be changed more often due
to higher amounts of dust, humidity, or chemicals found in your ambient air. Additionally, people
who are more sensitive to these airborne contaminates may desire more frequent filter changes.
WARNING: Always turn offand unplug the dehumidifier before cleaning.
CLEANING THE WASHABLE PRE-FILTER
Air circulation can be impeded and the efficiency of the dehumidifying and air purifying functions
decrease when the filter is dirty. It is good practice to clean the washable Pre-Filter at regular intervals. The
precise intervals depend on the room in which the unit operates and how frequently it is used.
• Open the front panel by pulling it gently forward at the top edges
• Carefully remove the washable Pre-Filter
• Lightly tap or vacuum the washable Pre-Filter to remove loose dirt and dust
• Rinse the filter under cool running water
• Dry thoroughly before reinserting and closing the front pane
CAUTION:
12
require the purchase of a replacement.
Do not place washable Pre-Filter on a heat source as the filter may become deformed. Do
not use bleach or harsh chemical solvents to clean the washable Pre-Filter.
