Information for use
sera pond fil bioactive pressure filter
Please read these instructions carefully and keep for future use.
Thank you for choosing a sera pond fil bioactive pressure fil-
ter as a single unit or in combination as a set with a sera pond
pump PP. The information for use for the sera pond pump PP
is included with the corresponding package.
With this newest generation of external filters for ponds, sera
provides crystal clear, biologically clean water in constant
quality. Being equipped with the unique filter medium sera
siporax pond (270 m² / 2,900 sq.ft. surface per liter / US quart)
and with sera pond filter biostart, the filter becomes immedi-
ately active after starting it.
Water purification as in nature
Coarse particles are collected by the filter rings in the mechan-
ical prefiltration step (1.5 – 1.7). Pollutants such as ammonium,
nitrite and nitrate are then broken down by micro organisms in
the following biological filtration step (1.9). Only a perfect bal-
ance between mechanical and biological filtration, as in these
new, extremely powerful filter systems, guarantees permanent-
ly clear water without much maintenance effort.
SAFETY PRECAUTION!
All electrical units in and around the pond must be discon-
nected from the power/mains supply before conducting
work in and around the pond or at the sera pond fil bioac-
tive pressure filter.
Application and application range
The sera pond fil bioactive pressure filter is a suitable single
unit for garden ponds with a volume of up to 12,000 l (3,170 US
gal.).
The set consisting of pressure filter including the pond pump
sera pond PP 6000 is suitable for ponds up to 6,000 l (1,585 US
gal.), with the pond pump sera pond PP 12000 for ponds up
to 12,000 l (3,170 US gal.).
The amount of sera siporax pond can be increased for ponds
with dense fish stock. We recommend a combination of a sera
pond fil bioactive pressure filter and a sera pond UV-C Sys-
tem 55 W for combating floating algae and/or bacterial cloudi-
ness.

Assembly and operation
Location:
The sera pond fil bioactive pressure filter can be placed lev-
el with the ground or be dug into the bottom up to the connec-
tors. Positioning above pond level is also possible if the deliv-
ery performance of the pump is sufficiently high.
Biological activation – De-assembling the filter
The sera pond fil bioactive pressure filter are pre-assembled
ready for use except for a few hand movements. The filter is
partially de-assembled for the biological activation.
Attention! The locking ring (1.2) is under high tension and
locks immediately after passing the pressure point. Do not
clasp the locking handle with your hand, but only press your
hand against the handle from the outside so you will not
squeeze your fingers at the inner side. The same applies vice
versa for opening. Wear protective gloves for safety reasons.
Open the locking ring (1.2) and take the cover (1.1) with the
standpipe (1.1.6) off the filter container (1.4). The dry filter rings
(1.5 – 1.7) are attached to the standpipe (1.1.6) or lie on the
holder plate with standpipe locator (1.8). Take the upper 3 filter
rings out. A coarse filter ring (1.10), on which the sera siporax
pond (1.9) is deposited, is located in the bio zone (1.9).
Activate the sera siporax pond by pouring sera pond filter
biostart through the holder plate onto the sera siporax pond.
The sera pond fil bioactive pressure filter is now activated
biologically.
