Feature description

Dräger PointGard 2000 instruments are stand-alone gas
detection systems. Alarm conditions are indicated by the built-
in alarm devices. 2 versions of strobe combinations are
available.
– Amber and red strobes
The amber strobe indicates pre-alarm A1. The red strobe
indicates main alarm A2.
– Green status light and red strobe
The green status light turns off in a fault or alarm
condition. The red strobe indicates the main alarm A2 and
the pre-alarm A1.
An analog 4-20mA output allows the instrument to
communicate with a control unit. The instruments are
available with a DC or AC power supply. Gas concentrations,
status messages, and menu choices are displayed on a
backlit graphic LC-display and 3 colored LEDs. The backlight
color can be switched to red or green.
Instructions for use

Dräger PointGard 2000 Series
Alarm patterns of integrated alarm devices, such as flashing
modes of the strobes and horn tones, can be configured with
a DIP switch. The instruments can be equipped with dongles:
– Sensor test dongle activates the sensor self-test (only for
certain sensors)
– Diagnostic dongle activates the sensor self-test, the
display of the sensor vitality, and the sensor diagnostic
functions (only for certain sensors and functions)
The instrument come with a data logger. For information on
how to handle the data logger, see the technical manual.
The data logger can store up to 35000 values. At a sampling
interval of 1 measurement per minute the data logger stores
the measurement history of approximately 24 days. This time
can be significantly increased if the trigger function is enabled.
3.2.1 PointGard 2100 EC
The instrument monitors concentrations of toxic gases or
oxygen in ambient air depending on the installed
electrochemical (EC) sensor. The EC sensor has to be
ordered separately and installed. An EC remote sensor
enclosure with a cable up to 100 feet (30m) can be ordered as
an accessory. The remote EC sensor cannot be operated in
hazardous areas.
The following software dongles are available for the
PointGard 2100 EC:
Sensor test dongle 83 17 619 Activates the sensor self-
Diagnostic dongle 83 17 860 Activates the sensor self-test,

3.2.2 PointGard 2200 CAT

The instrument monitors concentrations of combustible gases
and vapors in ambient air.

3.2.3 PointGard 2200 CAT Remote

PointGard 2200 CAT Remote can be connected to junction
boxes with different explosion protection types.
– Explosion proof (Ex d) Polytron
®
– Polytron
SE Ex sensing heads with increased safety (Ex
e) explosion protection.
The sensing heads can be operated in hazardous areas
with potentially explosive atmospheres of zones 1 and 2,
21 and 22 and Class I and II, Div 1 and 2.
