4.3 Operation Summer control - Examples

5 Night cut-off
5.1 Function
The night cut-off lowers the aquarium temperature at night by 1.5 °C, between 21:00
and 7:00 hrs. Thereby the DUOMAT Comfort provides a daily temperature cycle, same
as many fish and plants are accustomed to from their natural habitat. During the
cooling-down phase which is from 9 p.m. until the nominal night temperature has been
reached, the DUOMAT Comfort will automatically switch on the Boden-Fluter heating
cable for 7 mi-nute per hour, to ensure proper nutrient circulation in the substrate
also during that phase.
5.2 Night cut-off ON/OFF
Every time the night cut-off is switched on, it will be necessary to set the actual time:
1. Push the <Nachtabsenkung> (night cut-off) button and hold down for at least 3
seconds.
The blue LED above the button lights up and the display shows the word
"U H r" (clock) for about 3 seconds 8.
2. By turning the large control knob slowly, the actual time can be set in steps of
1/2 hour each (0.5 hour steps).
Example: The time is 15:30,
turn the control knob until the display shows 15.5 9
(15:00 = 15.0 on the display).
Confirm the time by pushing the <Nachtabsenkung> (night cut-off) button once more.
The display will now show the actual water temperature again and the blue LED lights
continuously . The night cut-off will be operative until switched off by pushing the

button once more (blue LED off). For re-activating the night cut-off, the actual time
should be set again (see 5.2).
Please readjust the desired temperature after having switched on the night cut-off function
(refer to 2.2). This is necessary in order to be able to view the desired temperature when
pressing the PROGRAMM button.
Note: The aquarium temperature can only drop as long as the room temperature is lower
than temperature in the aquarium (which would be normal). With very large or especially
well insulated aquaria it could be that the temperature cannot quite drop 1.5 °C.
Voltage fluctuations in the power supply may cause in time a slight variation of the internal
clock. It is therefore recommended to switch off the night cut-off valve about every 6 months and
then to switch it on again in order to reset the internal clock to the actual time.
6 Warning indicators / fuses
6.1 The temperature display flashes
The temperature deviates more than + 3 °C or - 3 °C from the set temperature.
Please check the heating system immediately!
Please note: During summer months, because of higher room temperatures, it may be
possible that the aquarium temperature is higher than the set water temperature.The display
will then flash until the water temperature has dropped again to the set value.
