■
Only mow with a sharp cutting blade.
■
Only control the appliance by the handlebar.
■
Only move the appliance at walking speed.
■
Always move the appliance across the slope.
Do not mow up or down the slope, or on
slopes with a gradient of more than 10°. Ex-
ercise particular care when changing direc-
tion.
Cutting performance or operating time of the
rechargeable battery
■
The cutting performance or the area that can
be mown depends on the properties of the
grass. Factors such as the length of the
grass, the grass density, the selected cutting
height and wet grass affect the cutting perfor-
mance.
■
Optimum operating time is achieved by fre-
quent mowing and keeping the grass short.
■
Frequently switching the lawnmower on and
off during the mowing process reduces the
cutting performance as does a non-fully
charged rechargeable battery.
■
Starting the wheel drive and the mulching re-
duces the cutting performance or the operat-
ing time of the rechargeable battery.
■
To optimise cutting performance, it is recom-
mended to mow the grass often, to set a high
cutting height and to move the appliance at
walking speed.
■
Cutting performance in m² with 100 % re-
chargeable battery charge:
■
4757 Li VS, 4757 Li SP: max. 700 m
■
4237 Li P, 4237 Li SP: max. 600 m
NOTE
To prolong the operating time, an addi-
tional rechargeable battery can be pur-
chased.
Tips for mowing
■
Maintain a constant cutting height of 3–5 cm;
do not mow the grass to less than half its
original height.
■
Do not overload the lawnmower. If the motor
speed drops noticeably because of long,
thick grass, increase the cutting height and
mow in several passes.
■
Wind and sun can dry out the lawn after
mowing so it is better to mow in the late after-
noon.

8 MAINTENANCE AND CARE
CAUTION!
Danger of cutting injuries
Danger of lacerations when reaching in-
to the running mower mechanism.
■
■
8.1
Regular maintenance work
■
Make sure that all nuts, bolts and screws are
tightened and the appliance is in a safe work-
ing condition.
■
Check the grass catcher regularly for correct
operation and wear.
8.2
Cleaning the appliance and mower
mechanism
IMPORTANT!
Danger from water
Water in the appliance causes short-cir-
cuits and destroys electrical compo-
nents.
■
■
1. Switch off the appliance: Turn the safety key
2
to 0 and remove it.
2
2. Remove the rechargeable battery see chap-
ter 5.2 "Inserting and removing the recharge-
able battery (02)", page 35.
3. Unhook the grass collector.
4. Tip the appliance onto the side and clean the
mower mechanism with a broom or brush.
8.3
Checking and renewing the cutting
blade
■
Check the cutting blade regularly for damage.
Only have blunt or damaged cutting blades
sharpened/replaced by an AL-KO service
centre or authorised specialist company.
■
Resharpened cutting blades must be bal-
anced. Unbalanced cutting blades cause
strong vibrations and damage the mower.
■
Tightening torque of the blade screw 55 Nm
