Assembling
Always start the machine when it is completely
assembled.

Attaching the protective hood

Slide the protective hood (2) over the cutting head (1).
Fasten the protective hood (2) on the cutting head (1)
using the screws (M4x15).

Attaching the handle

Slide the rubber holder on the lawn trimmer upper part
(8) to the desired position where the handle (6) shall be
fastened.
Slide the handle (6) over the rubber holder and fasten it
with the screws provided (M5x35).

Connecting upper- and lower part

Plug the lawn trimmer lower part (5) and upper part (8)
together.
Note the marks (►◄).
Screw the lawn trimmer lower (5) and upper part (8)
together with the locking nut (7).

Choosing cutting diameter

Danger of Cutting!
Wear protective gloves in order to avoid injury to
the hands.
Select position "A" for the thread blade (16) to set a
cutting diameter of Ø 254 mm.
Select position "B" for the thread blade (16) to set a
cutting diameter of Ø 305 mm.

Before the first start-up

You only need to charge the battery before starting the device
and insert it into the device.
Charging the battery:
See operating instructions for the battery and/or the
charger.
Inserting the battery:
Slide the battery into the guide of the battery holder
until the contacts of the battery are firmly seated on the
contact plugs of the device (audible click).
The lithium ion batteries AP 40-2000 (Article No. 365501)
or AP 40-4000 (Article No. 365503) as well as the charger
ALG 40-1800 (Article No. 365500) are not included in the
scope of delivery and must be purchased separately.

Use only an original battery.

Do not use any other charger to charge the batteries.
The charger is optimally matched to the batteries.
Using an unsuitable charger may present a risk of
shock, overheating or escape of caustic battery fluid.
Refer to the respective "Operating instructions" for further
information on the batteries and the charger.

Start-up

Caution! Prior to starting the machine learn how to
put it out of action in emergency cases.
You may not start to operate the machine until you
have read these operating instructions, observed all
the instructions given and installed the machine as
described!
Check the device before each use for
− possible damages,
− loose fastening elements,
− correctly assembled and intact covers and protective
devices.
Make sure before each startup that the switch lock
and the ON / OFF switch on the operating handle
work properly.
Do not use the device if it can be switched on only
with the ON / OFF switch. The unit must be checked
and repaired immediately by the customer service.

Switching On / Off

Firmly hold the machine and make sure that neither
the cutting tool comes into contact with fixed objects.
Always keep your hands and feet at a safe distance to
the cutting tool.
Make sure that the cutting tool has no contact with
the ground.
Switch on
The lawn trimmer has a protective shut-down which
prevents an unintended switching on.
Hold the device firmly with both hands; the left hand
always encloses the front handle (6) and the right
hand always encloses the operating handle (22). This
applies also to left-handed persons!
Press the locking knob (13) and then the ON/OFF
switch (14). While working, you can release the
locking knob (13).
To protect the battery the machine automatically
switches off at a low battery.
Never continue operating the ON / OFF switch; this
may damage the battery.
Charge the lithium ion battery (
instructions).
