Getting started
a) Inserting the battery
Proceed as follows for the two radio devices delivered:
• Open the battery compartment on the rear of the PMR radio device. To do this, carefully bend the
holding clip of the battery compartment cover back a little and then remove the battery compart-
ment cover.
• Now, insert the Lilon battery included observing the correct polarity so that the battery contacts
touch the corresponding contacts in the PMR radio device.
• Close the battery compartment.
If the battery is not flat, short signal will sound when inserting it. Furthermore, a symbol
is shown in the display and the display light goes on for a few seconds.
• At first startup, the battery must always be charged first.
b) Charging battery
• If the battery is low, the PMR radio device shows the time in the display but it cannot be switched
on. If the battery is completely flat, nothing is shown in the display.
The PMR radio device sounds a warning signal during operation with low battery. Operation can
then be continued for a short time; afterwards, the PMR radio devices switches off.
Only connect the PMR radio device to a USB power supply for recharging when the
battery is inserted in the PMR radio device.
If the USB power supply is switched off (e.g. if the PMR radio device is connected to a
computer and you shut down the computer), disconnect the charging cable from the
PMR radio device first.
Otherwise, the PMR radio device could be damaged.
• To charge the battery, open the dust protection cap covering the connector (6) and connect
the PMR radio device with a USB socket e.g. of a USB power adapter or with a USB port of a
computer or a USB hub with its own power adapter.
The USB port should be able to supply a current of at least 500 mA.
• When charging it for the first time, leave the PMR radio device connected to the USB power
supply for 12 hours.
The charging duration of later charging processes is dependent on the condition of the battery.
With a completely empty rechargeable battery, the charging process can last up to 6 hours.
A symbol (K) at the bottom left of the display indicates the condition of the battery.
• When the charging process is completed, disconnect the connection between the PMR radio
device and USB socket. Close the dust protection cap again.
The USB socket is only used for recharging the PMR radio device and not for data
transfer. Thus, the operating system of a computer does not recognise new hardware.
c) Connecting the headset
Open the dust protection cap covering the connector (6) and completely insert the stereo plug of
the headset provided. When using the headset, the microphone and the loudspeaker in the PMR
radio device are deactivated automatically.
It is not possible to use the USB charging cable and the headset at the same time.
