Instructions for use and maintenance SATA air star F
3.1 Limitations to use
The half-mask SATA air star F protects against organic gases and vapours (with a boiling
point > 65° C) and/or dust such as e.g. solvent vapours, paint mist and grinding dust when
used with the corresponding fi lter type. The half-masks may only be used for air with low
concentrations of gaseous or vaporised contaminants of 0.1 Vol.% with A1-fi lters and of 0.5
Vol.% with A2-fi lters, or with dusts up to the 4-fold MAK-value with P1-fi lters, 15-fold MAK-
value with P2-fi lters and up to 30-fold MAK-value with P3-fi lters and each fi lter breathing
device only in such rooms in which the air contains at least 17 Vol.% and at the most 23.5
Vol.% oxygen. Filter devices such as the half-mask SATA air star F may not be used in
closed spaces such as boilers, pipes, ditches, and sewers. The use of gas fi lters with the
designation A1 against substances with low boiling points < 65 °C is not permitted. This also
applies to the corresponding combination fi lters, e.g. A2 P3 R D (Identifi cation colour: brown
white). The half-mask with appropriate fi lters may not be used against carbon dioxide gases
(CO) and may not be used when type and property of the contaminants are not known or
the contaminants represent a direct hazard to health and life (see instructions for use Filter
- SATA air star F). Corrective glasses and protective goggles can be worn in addition to the
half-mask. Activated carbon fi lter equipment may not be used at workplaces, where sparks
or open fi re can occur. Persons with beards or sideburns close to the sealing line of the half-
mask may not wear this respiratory protection equipment.
3.2 Checking before use
Before putting on the mask, ensure that the inhaling and exhaling diaphragms are in the
correct position (see chapter 3.6).
3.3 Inserting two respiratory fi lters
B
Position two respiratory fi lters (1) - markings opposite one
another - and lock at the stop (2), by turning the respira-
tory fi lter downwards to the noticeable stop (marking of
the respiratory fi lter above the end of the arrow!).
Releasing the respiratory fi lter is accomplished in reverse
order.
Note: Do not insert the bayonet only on one side! Do not
cant the respiratory fi lter when locking!
