3.i - INSTALLATION USING BUS CONNECTION
Using a BUS connection, it becomes possible to detect the presence of gas in
more than one area and operate the solenoid valve, with both local and
centralized indication of alarm signals.
Configuration of connection A (fig. 17)
One main unit with gas shut-off valve control.
Max 14 remote units, connected to the main unit via a 2-wire bus of maximum
length 1 km, conductor section 1.5 mm
G
Configuration of connection B (fig. 18)
B
One main unit with gas shut-off valve control.
Max 10 remote units, connected to the main unit via a 2-wire bus of maximum
length 100 m, conductor section 1.5 mm
Remote units can be of two kinds: detection only, with acoustic and luminous
signals and local alarm memory; or active, with relay, acoustic and luminous
signals and local alarm memory.
The line is protected against short-circuits and reverse polarity (communication
is inhibited, but detectors connected to the bus will not be damaged).
A diagnostic system locates and indicates connection errors and BUS faults
(see "User Instructions" chap. 6.u).
Installation of gas detectors
Install all gas detectors following the instructions in chapter 1.i
INSTALLATION OPERATIONS.
Connect the main unit to the power supply and to the solenoid valve as
explained in chapter 2.i - ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS.
Connect the remote detectors to the power supply as explained in the relative
technical documentation.
Connect all gas detectors to the bus line by way of terminals
as shown in figures 17 and 18.
WARNING
: observe polarities (- and +) when connecting.
Close and power up all the detectors.
Configure the bus as explained in the chapter 4.i - BUS CONFIGURATION.
Verify correct operation of all detectors and of the bus circuit as explained in
chapter 5.i - TEST.

4.i - BUS CONFIGURATION
The BUS must be configured when first installed and again whenever its structure is
changed (e.g. when a new detector is added). Remote detectors connected by the BUS
must be recognized by the main unit. In addition to the main unit, units with relays on the BUS
are automatically configured as remote units. The functional assignment of the main unit can
be changed.
