preparing the boiler for operation
Warning:
Before performing any work on the appliance,
shut off the power supply using the external
switch, since the zone module is always switched
on. To guarantee safety and the correct operation
of the zone module, it must be prepared for
operation by a qualifi ed technician who possesses
the skills which are required by law.
Initial procedures
The checks and procedures which should be carried
out before operating the module are as follows:
- make sure that the circulation pump/s is/are
not locked; unlock it/them if necessary using a
screwdriver on the motor shaft after removing
the cap;
- make sure there is no air in the circuit-breaker by
performing the deaeration procedure using the
manual air relief valve on the module;
- open the relief valves of the radiators in the
system;
- gradually open the shut-off valve located
upstream of the module and close the relief
valves on the radiators as soon as water comes
out;
- make sure the pressure of the secondary circuit,
in communication with the primary circuit, is
stable at a value between 0.5 and 3.0 bar.
Electricity supply:
- make sure that electrical connection has been
carried out in the correct manner, by fi tting a
bipolar switch with a minimum opening distance
of 3 mm between contacts; furthermore, make
sure that the earthing wire has been attached
correctly;
- make sure that the voltage and frequency of the
electricity supply correspond to the data shown
on the heating module data plate;
- make sure that the connections observe the L-N
polarities;
- make sure that the earthing connection is
effective.
Connecting the ON/OFF thermostats and the
outdoor sensor (optional)
Zone 1 and 2 room thermostats may be connected to
the MGz I and MGz II multizone modules.
The procedures to perform are as follows:
- shut off the boiler power supply;
- rotate the control panel after having removed the
front panel;
- remove the control panel cover to access the
terminal board;
- connect the thermostat wires to the terminal
board, observing the RT1 and RT2 indications;
- connect the outdoor sensor wires to the terminal
board, observing the OS indications;
- replace the cover of the boiler control panel;
- restore the boiler power supply;
- operate the boiler in accordance with the
instructions provided in the operating manual.
Connecting the Clima Manager and the room
sensor (optional)
For the connection of the modulating peripherals,
the BUS interface should be used and installed
directly inside the boiler; for details relating to
installation please read the instructions supplied
with the BUS kit.
The steps which must be performed in order to
connect the modulating peripherals are as follows:
- shut off the power supply to the boiler and to the
module;
- rotate the control panel after having removed the
front panel of the boiler;
- remove the control panel cover to access the rear
part of the panel;
- connect the pair of wires originating from the
Clima Manager and the room sensor to the BUS
interface P.C.B.;
- replace the cover of the boiler control panel;
- restore the module power supply;
- restore the boiler power supply;
- start peripheral operation in accordance with the
instructions provided in the Clima Manager and
room sensor operating manual.
Zone direction
The modulating peripherals must be directed to the
zones in which they are installed. Each peripheral will
correspond to one zone and this will take priority
over the relevant room thermostat. For details of
the direction procedure, please refer to the operating
manuals of the peripheral units.
Note:
If the outdoor sensor is not connected, the
peripherals will display a negative temperature in
the fi rst few minutes following electrical connection
(sensor recognition).
