To avoid the risk of fire, do not leave the machine when the
motor is hot on leaves or dry grass.
-
Strictly comply with local regulations for the disposal of
GB
damaged par ts or any element with a strong
environmental impact.
WARNING! Long-term exposure to vibration can cause
injury and neuro-vascular disorders (also known as "Raynaud's
phenomenon" or "white hand" phenomenon) especially to
those suffering from circulatory disorders. Symptoms can affect
the hands, wrists and fingers and manifest with loss of feeling,
numbness, itching, pain, discoloration or structural changes in
the skin. These effects can be worsened by low ambient
temperatures and/or an excessive grip on the handles. At the
onset of symptoms, limit the time you use the machine and
seek medical advice.
7.1 HOW TO USE THE MACHINE
WARNING! While working, the machine must always be
firmly gripped with both hands, keeping the cutting unit
below the belt line.
The trimmer head can cut tall grasses or non-woody vegetation
next to fences, walls, foundations, sidewalks, around trees, etc.
or to completely clear a particular area of the garden.
WARNING! With this machine, never use metal or rigid
blades of any type.
The battery has a protection device that prevents its total
discharge.
The machine switches off automatically if the rechargeable
battery is flat. In this case, it must be promptly recharged.
7.2 SHOULDER STRAP (Fig.9)
A shoulder strap is available as an accessory, code no.
4160463AR.
Properly adjusting the shoulder strap makes it possible to
balance the trimmer correctly and set it at an appropriate
height from the ground (1).
-
Hook the trimmer to the shoulder strap (2).
-
Wear the simple shoulder strap.
-
Adjust the buckle (A, 3) to position the trimmer at the
correct height.
WARNING!: wear the shoulder strap and always keep both
hands on the handles when operating the trimmer.
7.3 WORKING TECHNIQUES
WARNING! ONLY use nylon thread. The use of metal
wires, plasticized metal wires and/or wires unsuitable to
the head, can cause serious injuries or damage.
During use, stop the motor and regularly remove weeds
wrapped around the machine, in order to avoid overheating
due to grass tangled under the guard.
Remove tangled grass using a screwdriver.
WARNING! Neither the operator of the machine nor
20
anyone else should attempt to remove cut material while
the motor is running or the cutting device is rotating, as
this may cause serious injury.
WARNING! Do not use the machine to sweep, with the
trimmer head at an angle. The motor's power can throw
objects and small stones as far as 15 meters or more,
causing damage or injury to people.
Cutting in motion (mowing) (Fig.7)
Proceed at a regular pace, with an arched movement similar to
a traditional scythe, keeping the cutting device parallel to the
ground.
First cut at the correct height in a small area, and then obtain a
uniform cutting height, keeping the trimmer head at a constant
distance from the ground.
For the most challenging cuts, it may be useful to tilt the
trimmer head approximately 30° to the left.
WARNING! Do not operate in this way if there is the
possibility of throwing objects that could harm people,
animals or cause damage.
Cutting near fences / foundations
Slowly approach the trimmer head to fences, stakes, stones,
walls, etc. without hitting hard.
If the string hits a significant obstacle it could break or wear
down; if it gets caught in a fence, it can be suddenly severed.
In any event, cutting around sidewalks, foundations, walls, etc.
can wear the string more than normal.
Cutting around trees
Walk around the tree counterclockwise, slowly moving closer
to the branches in order to not hit the string against the tree,
and keeping the trimmer head sightly tilted forward.
Keep in mind that the nylon string can cut or damage small
shrubs, and that hitting the nylon string against tree trunks
with soft bark can severely damage the plant.
Adjusting the length of the string while working
This machine is fitted with an automatic trimmer head that can
automatically release string when the head is tapped against
the ground.
Once all the wire is gone, it must be replaced.
WARNING! After each intervention on the trimmer head,
always return the machine to the working position before
starting up the motor.
7.4 COMPLETION OF WORK
Once work is done, stop the motor as previously indicated.
WARNING! Let the motor cool down before storing the
machine in any environment.
To lower the risk of fire, remove any grass residue, leaves or
excess grease from the machine; do not leave containers
with mowing waste material inside a room.
