Range
The range of the Wireless Transmit-
ter is approximately 15 to 20 m (50
to 65 ft) (Fig. 1). External factors,
such as other transmitters using the
same frequency (e.g., wireless ther-
mometers), objects between Wire-
less
Transmitter
Receiver and walls that reflect the
radio waves can decrease the range.
On large layouts, we recommend
placing the Wireless Receiver in the
center of the layout at eye level. The
best position can be found through
trial and error. You can extend the
cable between the Wireless Receiver
and the 55110 using a phone cable
and a phone-style plug (6/4) up to a
distance of 30 m (100 ft).
Hint: If the Wireless Receiver is
placed outdoors, it must be protect-
ed from moisture. For example, you
can install the receiver in a tightly
sealed structure, like a model building.
If your layout does not respond to
control inputs from your remote, it is
likely that you have exceeded the
range. Decrease the distance between
remote and Wireless Receiver (not
between remote and locomotive) and
re-send the control inputs. To
increase the range, you can use sev-
eral Wireless Receivers (see Using
several Wireless Receivers on large
layouts).
Attention! Wireless transmission of
data never can be secure. If you are
outside the range of the receiver,
your layout will not respond to con-
trol inputs (such as "Emergency
Stop").
Using several Wireless Receivers
on large layouts (with Multi-Train
System)
You can use up to three Wireless
Receivers on your layout to increase
the range (Fig. 1). You can set up the
and
Wireless
receivers in various places on your
layout to ensure that your entire lay-
out is within reach of at least one
Wireless Receiver. All Wireless
Receivers must be programmed to
ID-No. 2 (factory pre-set). Connect
each Wireless Receiver to one sock-
et on the 55110 MTS Remote
Adapter marked "LGB-BUS."
Hint: In case you need more than
three Wireless Receivers, you can
connect the additional ones to a sec-
ond 55110.
ID Number
Each device connected to the LGB
BUS needs an ID No. The ID No. of
the Wireless Receiver is factory-pre-
set to 2. Under normal conditions,
this number should not be changed.
- If possible, do not use duplicate ID
Nos.
- ID Nos. 1 and 2 have a higher pri-
ority (data are sent more often).
- To program the ID-No:
1.Disconnect the wires MTS Central
Station.
2. Remove the four screws on the
bottom of the housing. Open the
housing and set the DIP switches
for the address according to the
code in the table (Fig. 3).
3. Close the housing.
4. Connect the cables for normal
operation.
Hint: With the original MTS Central
Station, only ID Nos. 1 and 2 are
valid.
Operation
The red LED on the Wireless Receiv-
er illuminates and shows that the
system is ready to operate. If the
Emergency Stop button on a remote
is pressed, the LED flashes.
