12. RANGE FUNCTION, MANUAL MEASUREMENT RANGE
SELECTION
The RANGE function enables manual measuring range selection in some measurement with an
automatic measuring range selection (AUTO). In threshold areas, the measuring range should be set
fi rmly to prevent undesired switching.
Press the "RANGE" button (2) to activate this function. "AUTO" goes out in the display, and "MANUAL"
appears. Press again to switch to another range.
Press the "RANGE" button for 2 seconds to switch off this function. "AUTO" appears again in the
display (if the autorange function is available for this measuring range).

13. REL FUNCTION

The REL function allows a reference value measurement to avoid possible line loss as it occurs, e.g.,
during resistance measurements. For this purpose, the current indicated value is set to zero. A new
reference value is set. The basic value (rel difference) is displayed in the upper, small display.
Press the "REL/PC" button (4) to activate this measuring function. The display indicates "
automatic measuring range selection is deactivated now.
In order to switch off this function, press the "REL/PC" button again or change the measurement
function.
The measuring limit will not be changed when you set the basic value.
e.g. if the measuring limit is 4 V, and you set the basic value at 3 V, then the reference value
limit will be 1 V (4 V - 3 V) instead of 4 V (7 V - 3 V).
The indication "OL" will show if the measured value is exceeding the measuring range.
The REL function is not active in the measuring ranges for temperature, continuity tests, diode
tests, frequency and low-pass fi lter voltage measurement.
If manual measuring range is chosen,
the number next to it represents the
upper limit of the measuring range.
e.g. if "4 0" is shown and the unit is
"mA", then the measuring range is
limited to 40 mA.
The indication "OL" will show if the
measured value is exceeding the
measuring range.
