Operation
To switch on the illumination, press the button on the instrument. (Press the button again to switch the
illumination off.)
Contact mode (with contact plate)
Place the contact plate (3) on the instrument such that it snaps into the recesses. The contact plate is held in
place by magnetic force.
Place the instrument with the contact plate onto the skin area to be investigated. Because of the polarised
illumination, you do NOT need any contact liquid such as immersion oil or disinfection spray. The image has
10-fold magnification.
Non-contact mode (without contact plate)
Take the contact plate off and hold the unit at a distance of approximately 2 cm over the skin area to be
investigated. The image has 6-fold magnification.
Adjusting the focus
Your eye needs to be at a distance of approximately 2 cm from the focusing ring (2). Rotate the focusing ring
until you get a sharp image.
Smartphone adapter
To connect the NC2 to your smartphone, you need the adapter dock (5) and adapter (4) fitting your smartphone.
Place the smartphone in the adapter dock (5) and press it into the dock until it snaps into the brackets. Push
the adapter (4) onto the adapter dock until it clicks into place. Rotate the focusing ring (2) outward to the limit
stop such that the eyepiece focuser is moved out as far as possible. Carefully push the fixing bracket of the
adapter over the eyepiece focuser until the bracket snaps into place and the adapter is firmly connected to
the smartphone.
The adapter can be rotated about the eyepiece focuser allowing the smartphone to be oriented in any direction
(for right- and left-handed users).
Install the NC2 app on your smartphone. The app is available in the AppStore.
To avoid any possible malfunctions, please deactivate all services (flight mode).
Protecting patient data is users' sole responsibility (e. g. Protection of the smartphone with a pin, data
transmission via a secure connection). Ensure that your smartphone is adequately protected against
access by third parties.
An electrical conducting connection between smartphone, PC and a mains power source is not permissible
during the recording of the picture.
The pictures are stored in a file in the picture database of the smartphone. This file should only be viewed
and changed with the NC2 app.
Carry out periodically a back-up of your data to avoid a loss. A back-up of the data is for example possible
with the iCloud.
