The height of the coil, even at high elongation, limits distortion. The 30 mm diameter coil was designed for
an excellent force factor (BI). This, combined with a 120 mm (4.72") magnet with a magnetic power of
1.25T, provides the loud speaker with high efficiency and an excellent impulse response.
The coil is cooled by the ventilated basket and the hole in the driver magnet structure. This hole also limits
the risk of air compression on significant movement of the mobile parts.
In addition, all woofers in the Australe and Volante models, are equipped with a spider-type radiator,
designed to increase power holding. It is made of injected aluminum and its shape fits perfectly the
magnet structure, by fitting into the basket assembly.
New 16 cm (6") diameter driver chassis
This new basket assembly has a groove for optimum mechanical
coupling between the loud speaker and the cabinet.
A new terminal block
The terminal block of the new STRATOS range was entirely designed and developed by TRIANGLE.
It is made of injected aluminum and connections are in gold-plated copper. An O-ring eliminates any leaks
between the terminal block and the cabinet.
SPEC Single Point Energy Conduction
This new coupling principle developed by TRIANGLE, uses the same system as the Magellan: an
injected aluminum base, two adjusting keys, the spike and its protective cover and the insulating rubber. The base is connected to
the loud speaker by four screws.
There are two adjusting keys at the rear of the stand to adjust the perpendicularity of the loud speaker to the floor.
Like on the Magellan, there is a rubber insulating plate of 3mm thick between the base and the speaker. This rubber
limits wave transmissions between the speaker and the base. It itself is insulated from the floor by the two adjusting
keys and by two small brass hemispheres at the front of the base.
The SPEC, Single Point Energy Conduction system, uses the principle of a single mechanical point directly
connecting the cabinet to the floor by the spike . The two adjusting keys, at the rear of the base, transfer most of the
weight of the speaker to the stainless steel spike. The spike is part of the enclosure and only touches the floor at its
end. It is held by a cup for protecting fragile floors. The SPEC system is an ideal mechanical coupling between the
speaker and the floor. The internal mechanical energy of the speaker is evacuated to the floor through a single
point.
The driver chassis is entirely new. It is made of injected
aluminum with 6 branches. Each branch is paired and has a
thickness of 4 mm, giving optimum rigidity to the basket
assembly.
In addition, the basket is vented between the coil and spider, enabling good air circulation and more
efficient cooling of the coil.
