PRECAUTIONS
WARNING
Risk of electrical shock. If your water pipes are
used to ground your house's electrical system, install a No. 8
AWG (8.4mm
2
) jumper wire (or larger) around the !lter (see
Figure 6). The jumper wire must be connected at both ends by
a pressure wire !tting or other connection that satis!es NEC or
CEC and local codes.
WARNING
Do not use with water that is microbiologically
unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection
before or after the system.
CAUTION
Filter must be protected against freezing, which can
cause cracking of the !lter and water leakage.
CAUTION
The rubber O-ring provides the water-tight seal
between the cap and the bottom of the housing. It is important
that the O-ring be properly seated in the groove above the
threads of the housing or a water leak could occur.
CAUTION
Because of the product's limited service life and to
prevent costly repairs or possible water damage, we strongly
recommend that the bottom of all plastic housings be replaced
every ten years. If the bottom of your housing has been in use
for longer than this period, it should be replaced immediately.
Date the bottom of any new or replacement housing to indicate
the next recommended replacement date.
CAUTION
Do not use electrical heating tape on this unit.
NOTES:
For cold water use only.
•
The contaminants or other substances removed or reduced by
•
this water treatment device are not necessarily in your water.
Ask your local water municipality for a copy of their water
analysis, or have your water tested by a reputable water
testing lab.
Do not install where system will be exposed to direct sunlight.
•
Filter cartridge life varies depending on !lter type, usage, and
•
water conditions.
The replacement !lter cartridge used with this system has a
•
limited service life. Changes in taste, odor, or !ow of the water
being !ltered indicate that the cartridge should be replaced.
Use only OMNIFILTER replacement cartridges.
•
This installation must comply with all applicable state and
•
local regulations.
Use only plumber tape without adhesive backing to seal joints.
•
Do not use pipe compound ("pipe dope"), sticks, or similar
compounds with this unit; they contain petroleum derivatives
which will cause crazing and cracking of the plastic in the !lter
housing.
• 2 •
Use only soap and water to clean !lter housing
•
and components.
30–100 psi
Do not use aerosol sprays (bug spray, cleaning !uids, etc.)
•
40°F–100°F
near the !lter. They contain organic solvents which will cause
crazing and cracking of the plastic in the !lter housing.
10 gpm
After prolonged periods of non-use, such as a vacation, it
•
is recommended that the system be !ushed thoroughly. Let
water run for 5-6 minutes before using.
Do not use a torch near the unit.
•
Some harmless bacteria may attack cellulose media cartridges
•
such as the RS15, TO6. If your cartridge seems to disintegrate
or develops a musty or moldy odor, switch to a synthetic media
cartridge or consult the manufacturer.
Wear safety glasses during installation.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE:
Please read all instructions, speci!cations, and precautions
•
before installing and using your water !lter.
There must be a shut-off valve before the !lter.
•
Install !lter after water meter or pressure tank.
•
Numbered diagrams correspond with numbered steps.
•
Before installing the !lter, determine where the unit will be
located and what type of pipe the unit will connect to. The !lter
head has 1-inch NPT threaded connections molded into it. The
distance from the top of the water piping to the !oor must be
at least 15-inches for !lter change allowance. Allow a 1
clearance below the housing to allow for changing the cartridge.
The recommended installation has a shut-off valve on both the
inlet and outlet sides of the !lter. The installation shown uses
copper piping. The weight of the !lter should be supported so it
does not stress the pipes. The main house water shut-off valve
can be used as the inlet side shut-off valve.
