PROBLEM
Coffee extracts as drops from
the portafilter
Machine is making a loud and
continuous pumping noise
No steam is generated
Milk is not foamy after texturing
POSSIBLE CAUSES
The water tank is empty or low
Coffee grind is too fine
Machine is blocked by mineral deposits
Water tank is empty
Water tank is not securely in place
Machine is not turned on
Water tank is empty
Steam dial is not in «Steam» position
Steam wand is blocked
Not enough steam
Milk is not fresh and cold
WHAT TO DO
Refer to step 1 – «Filling the Water Tank», page 150.
Ensure you use a suitable espresso grind.
Refer to «Setting the Right Grind» on page 152.
Decalcify the machine. Refer to «Decalcifying»,
page 166.

Ensure the machine is plugged in and the POWER
button is pressed to «ON».

Turn the steam dial to the «Steam» position
Use the pin on the cleaning tool to clear the open-
ing. If the steam wand continues to be blocked
remove the tip of the steam wand using the fitting
in the middle of the cleaning tool. Refer to «Care
and Cleaning», page 169.
Steam wand may be blocked.

Use cold fresh milk. Refer to «The Art of Texturing
