Receiving calls (continued)
To obtain the best speakerphone performance
• You may not be able to hear the other party's voice in a noisy place.
Therefore, use the speakerphone in a quiet room.
• Do not bring your hand or other object too close to the microphone,
or you will hear a shrill noise ("feedback").
• When the speaker volume is loud or the telephone has been placed
close to a wall, you may find that the volume drops suddenly. This is
due to a circuit in the telephone designed to protect against
feedback. In such cases, lower the speaker volume slightly.
To turn off the ringer
You can turn the ringer off by setting RINGER to OFF. The handset
and the base unit won't ring, but you can still make calls. You can also
receive calls if another telephone connected to the same line rings to
inform you on incoming calls.

Press and hold (PGM/SPEED DIAL) for more than two
seconds.

Press $ or 4 to make "RINGER" flash.

Press (ENTER).

Press $ or 4 to make "OFF" flash.

Press (ENTER).
You hear a long confirmation beep.

Immediately replace the handset on the base unit.
Notes
• Do not skip step 6. The ringer setting is valid after you replace the handset
on the base unit for more than three seconds.
• You cannot set RINGER separately for the handset and for the base unit.
To turn on the ringer
Do the above operation and make "ON" flash in step 4.
