5. Inserting the battery
The infrared thermometer requires one alkaline 9V block battery
of type NEDA1604, IEC 6LR61 or types of similar construction
for operation. If the voltage of the battery inserted is less than
the value required the LCD display shows the empty battery
symbol "Low Bat". Change the battery in this case.
Change the battery as follows: Open the battery compartment
by lifting the battery compartment cover from the grip, as
shown in the figure. Exchange the battery for a new one of the
same type and close the battery compartment cover again.
Do not leave batteries lying around as there is the risk that they
could be swallowed by children. Leaking or damaged batteries
can cause burns if contact is made with the skin. Never try to
charge batteries. Do not throw batteries in a fire.

6. Mode of operation

Infrared thermometers measure the surface temperature of an
object. The instrument sensor records the thermal radiation
that is emitted or reflected by the object, or passes through the
object, and converts this information into a temperature value.

7. Temperature measurement

To measure temperatures point the opening of the IR sensor
at the object to be measured and press the temperature
measurement button. The "SCAN" measurement indicator is
shown in the LCD display. Ensure that the measuring spot size
is no larger than the target. The temperature value currently
being determined is shown in the LCD display.
To locate the hottest point on an object the infrared thermometer
is pointed at a spot outside the desired area and the area is
then scanned with zigzag movements with the temperature
measurement button held down until the hottest point is found.
After you have released the temperature measurement button
the determined temperature value is displayed for about 10
seconds. "HOLD" is displayed during this time.
After about 10 seconds the instrument shuts down by itself to
conserve the battery capacity. When the laser is switched on,
the laser beam is visible. To activate the laser, push the laser
on/off button when the device is switched on. The laser symbol
appears on the LCD display.
