3.2 FITTING OF THE SANDING MATERIAL

As desired of the customer the machine is suitable with a centrifugal sanding drum or with a conventional sand-
ing drum type ELF 200.
Centrifugal sanding drum
For this system sanding belts 200 x 551 mm with textile back are necessary. For fitting on the tube take off the
drum cover and push the sanding tube on the sanding drum in a way that the rubber is full covered. Then attach
the drum cover back to the housing and start the machine. The tensioning of the sanding belt occurs automati-
cally through the rotating sanding drum.
Conventional sanding drum type ELF 200
For these drum sanding paper 200 mm width is necessary. For tensioning the sanding paper tilt the machine for-
ward over the bumper felt and turn the sanding drum until the paper tensioning slot is visible between the front
side of the housing and the intake duct. Insert the 10 mm hexagon socket head wrenches into the two tensioning
bolt openings an the sides of the sanding drum and press the wrenches together all the way against the stop.This
opens the papertensioning device. Place the paper template on the back of the sanding paper and cut paper to
the template. Equally wrap the cutted paper around the sanding drum and insert the two equally long ends into
the drum opening. Tension the sanding paper by pressing the two hexagon socket head wrenches together, which
closes the tensioning device. Unequal fitting of the sandingpaper may cause lateral sanding marks. Insufficient
sanding paper tension may cause "shatter marks". So make sure the sanding paper is correctly tensioned!
In order to avoid "ondulation" the sanding drum design provides for a paper tensioning slot which is not exces-
sively wide. lf this should cause any problems when tensioning extremely coarse sanding paper, we recommend
to remove the grains on the paper in the tensioning area.

3.3 MACHINE SETUP

For adjustment put the machine on a level piece of wood, start the motor and let the rotating sanding drum down
very carefully, that it touchs the wood. After that control the sanding mark. lf both lateral edges of the sanding
mark have the same width, the adjustment is perfect. lf one edge is broader than the other the machine has to be
readjusted. For this loosen both screws of the right wheel fork. lf the machine sands more on the right side than
on the left screw in the set screw on the adjusting plate. Determine by trial sanding if the machine has been set
to optimal conditions. lf not, repeat the adjustment. Adjust in the opposite direction if the machine sands more on
the left than on the right side.
