excessive force has been used to pull the
power cord, it must no longer be used:
even invisible damage may have adverse
effects on the operational safety of the
appliance.
∙ The appliance must be used only on a
heat-resistant, level surface.
∙ Do not operate the appliance below a
hanging cupboard or similar object; there
is a risk that escaping steam may be
trapped underneath.
∙ Do not allow the appliance or its power
cord to come into contact with open
fl ames or any hot surfaces such as
hot-plates.
∙ Do not let the power cord hang free, and
keep the cord well away from hot parts of
the housing.
∙ Always remove the plug from the wall
socket,
- in case of any malfunction,
- after use,
- during cleaning.
∙ No responsibility is accepted if damage
results from improper use, or if these
instructions are not complied with.
Thermal safety cut-out
The preset thermal safety cut-out protects
the heating element from overheating should
the appliance be erroneously switched on
without any water, or if the heating element
is calcifi ed. Once the safety cut-out has
switched off the kettle, it must be allowed to
cool down suffi ciently, or must be descaled
before it is switched on again.
Keep-warm function
Once the boiling process is fi nished, the
water may be kept hot for another 30
minutes by pressing the HOLD TEMP button
before or after the heating process. However,
the keep-warm function is automatically
cancelled if the water container is removed
from the base for more than 30 minutes,
The indicator light on the HOLD TEMP
button is on while this function is active.
Before using for the fi rst time
To clean the kettle, boil and discard the fi rst
fi lling of water.
Boiling water
∙ Remove the water container from its base.
∙ Push the release button to open the lid,
and fi ll the container with water to the
desired level, observing the Max. marking.
∙ Close the lid and replace the container
on its base. Insert the plug into a suitable
wall socket.
∙ Once the appliance is connected to the
mains, the indicator lights on the operating
buttons will fl ash three times.
∙ Select the desired temperature and press
the START/CANCEL button to turn the
appliance on. During the heating period,
the temperature can be changed at any
time.
∙ The heating process begins.
∙ The indicator light on the START/
CANCEL button comes on and that on
the temperature selection button starts
fl ashing.
∙ After reaching boiling point (or the selected
temperature), the appliance switches off
automatically. The corresponding button
shows a steady light.
∙ Around 30 seconds after the appliance
has switched off, the indicator lights on
the temperature selection and START/
CANCEL buttons will also go out.
∙ As long as the kettle is connected to the
