General
Do not connect the charger to the mains supply during testing. In all tests, the charger
draws its supply from the battery being tested.
Once the charger has been connected to the battery, the following test phases run auto-
matically in sequence:

Testing the bat-
The charger measures the open circuit voltage of the battery. If the battery was not used
tery open circuit
for at least two hours, then this is referred to as open circuit voltage.

WARNING! Risk of injury and damage from exposed, rotating vehicle parts.
When working in the vehicle's engine compartment, take care that hands, hair,
items of clothing and charger leads do not come into contact with moving parts,
e.g. fan belt, fan, etc.
Battery open circuit voltage test
Battery startability test (only on chargers for motor vehicle applications)
Alternator test (only on chargers for motor vehicle applications)
NOTE! All battery and alternator test results are for information only and may dif-
fer from the actual values. The charger checks the entire system. The results are
therefore to be seen as recommendations only.
Switch off engine and ignition, shed all loads

All display elements on the display are activated. Depending on the type of charger,
the respective voltage(s) and/or symbol for the type of battery are displayed.
