system, the ventilation must operate for 24 hours a day.

5.2. Connection to an exhaust system

Supply and exhaust air vents are provided on the top and rear of all PROTECTO
safety cabinets. The connection fitting should be attached to the exhaust air outlet
(see diagram) and the exhaust air duct (metal or flame-retardant plastic pipe)
connected to it. Room air can be used as the supply air; under normal conditions of
operation no additional, external air supply is required.
The installation of a technical ventilation system, or the connection to an existing
exhaust system, does not form part of the PROTECTO portfolio. Please ask a
ventilation specialist near you for assistance.
5.3. Selection of the technical ventilation (see also section 12.6)
The design and operation of technical ventilation systems which are used in
explosive atmosphere are currently subject to European Directive 2014/34/EU
(ATEX). Only technical ventilation systems which conform to the technical
specifications set out in this directive may be used. The equipment used by us
(SST-UL and AL) is designed, manufactured, marked, tested and certified in
accordance with the above standard.
No specific hazards for people or the environment arise provided this equipment is
used as intended and only with original accessories, and provided this Installation
and Operating Manual as well as the information on safe commissioning are
observed.
All forms of use which deviate from or exceed the limits of use described above are
considered to be contrary to the intended purpose. The manufacturer / supplier is
not liable for any damages resulting from such use; the sole responsibility lies with
the user.
Before installing the technical ventilation system, check whether your local in-house
grid is suitable for operation. The technical ventilation system must be connected
and measured by a qualified electrician. The results of the measurements should be
documented.
