BEFORE FIRST USE

Before first use, rinse the espresso machine thoroughly with warm water.
1. Fill the water tank with water. The water level should not exceed the maximum
filling capacity marked with "MAX". Now cover the water tank with the lid.
2. Insert the portafilter into the holder without adding ground coffee. Insert the
portafilter in a way that the handle faces the "INSERT" position. Turn the por-
tafilter counterclockwise until it sits tightly in "LOCK" position.
3. Place a cup onto the cup shelf. Make sure that the control knob is in its default
position.
4. Plug the power plug into the socket and turn the ON/OFF switch to the "I"
position. The blue coffee display is going to start flashing. The espresso machine
is going to heat up now.
5. As soon as the coffee display shines steadily, turn the control knob to
so that water starts pouring.
6. After one minute, turn the control knob back into its default position and pour
away the water. Now, the brewing process can be started. Note: At the initial
start-up, there might be a detectable noise during the pumping of the water for
20 seconds because the espresso machine releases air. After about 20 seconds,
the noise disappears.

PREHEATING
In order to make a cup of espresso, you should preheat the machine including the
holder, portafilter and cup prior to preparation. This way, the flavor of the coffee is
not going to be affected by cold parts.
