Electret Condenser Microphone
with Floor Stand
These instructions are intended for users
without any specific technical knowl-
edge . Please read these instructions
carefully prior to operating the unit and
keep them for later reference .
All operating elements and connec-
tions described can be found on page 2 .

1 Applications

This electret condenser microphone is
suitable for the sound pick-up of musi-
cal instruments as well as for vocal sound
(pick-up of chorus) and speech applica-
tions . Three replaceable microphone
cartridges with different directivities are
supplied with the microphone . The stand
has a boom arm of extra lightweight,
carbon fibre reinforced plastic and is
supplied with two telescopic tubes of
different lengths .
For operation, the microphone re-
quires a phantom power of 48 V . An
illuminated ring on the microphone in-
dicates that the microphone is ready for
operation . A level attenuation (10 dB)
and a high pass filter can be switched on .
2 Safety Notes
The microphone corresponds to all rele-
vant directives of the EU and is therefore
marked with
.
The microphone is suitable for indoor
use only . Protect it against humidity
and heat (admissible ambient temper-
ature range 0 – 40 °C) .
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth,
never use chemicals or water .
No guarantee claims for the micro-
phone and no liability for any resulting
personal damage or material damage
will be accepted if the microphone is
used for other purposes than originally
intended, if it is not correctly connected
or not repaired in an expert way .
If the microphone is to be put out
of operation definitively, take it to
a local recycling plant for a dis-
posal which is not harmful to the
environment .

3 Setting into Operation
1) As required, screw the short (13) or
the long telescopic tube (14) into
the base (18) of the stand . Screw the
threaded head (6) of the boom arm
support onto the telescopic tube and
fix it with the counternut (8) .
2) Screw the microphone cartridge (2)
with the required directivity (symbol
on the cartridge) onto the upper end
of the boom arm:
 = omnidirectional,
= supercardioid
Insert the mini XLR plug (11) of the
microphone cable into the jack at the
lower end of the boom arm so that it
locks into place . (To remove the plug,
press the black unlock button on the
plug) . Connect the XLR plug (15) to a
microphone input with 48 V phantom
power [mixer, preamplifier or addi-
tional phantom power adapter (e . g .
EMA-3, EMA-200)] . With phantom
power applied, the red ring (3) on the
microphone lights up .
3) For height adjustment of the telescopic
tube, release the clutch (12) by turn-
ing it, extract the tube to the desired
length and retighten the clutch . For
height adjustment of the boom arm,
release the clutch (7), the carbon tube
(9) can now be moved in the support .
Then retighten the clutch .
The inclination of the boom arm
can be changed after releasing the set-
screw (5) . The fine alignment of the
microphone can be made by bending
the gooseneck (4) .
4) The cable can be fixed at the tele-
scopic tube by means of the clamping
rings (10) .
5) To reduce wind noise, e . g . when
talking into the microphone or when
picking up wind instruments at close
range, place the windshield (1) onto
the microphone cartridge . It also pro-
tects the cartridge against humidity
from your breath .
6) If the signal level of the microphone
is too high for the connected unit, set
the switch (17) on the XLR plug (15) to

position "−10" (= 10 dB attenuation)
by means of a pointed object .
7) To suppress low-frequent interference
(e . g . subsonic sound), switch on the
high pass filter (position "
the other switch (16) .
