1. Safety instructions
For skilled electricians and trained
personnel in accordance with national
legislation, including the relevant
standards and, where applicable, in
acc. with IEC 60079-17 on electrical
apparatus for explosive atmospheres
The cap lamp must not be used in
zone 0 hazardous areas!
The temperature class marked on the
cap lamp is to be observed!
The cap lamp may only be opened or
charged outside of hazardous areas!
Modifications to the lamp or changes of
its design are not permitted!
The lamp shall only be used for its
intended purpose and in perfect
condition!
For replacing components, only
genuine Cooper Crouse-Hinds (CCH)
spare parts may be used!
Repairs that affect the explosion
protection, may only be carried out by
CCH or a qualified "electrician" in
accordance with the relevant national
standards
Prior to initial operation, the cap lamp
must be charged in accordance with
the instructions included in section 5!
Lamps fitted with NiCd accumulators
must not be stored without a recharge
for more than 6 months!
The HLE 7 L EN cap lamp may only be
operated in its leather case.
Pull the mains plug prior to opening the
lamp!
Observe the national safety rules and
regulations for prevention of accidents
as well as the following safety instruc-
tions which are marked with an
in these operating instructions!

2. Conformity with standards

The apparat is conform to the standards
specified in the EC-Declaration of conformity.
It has been designed, manufactured and
tested according to the state of the art and to
DIN EN ISO 9001
The apparats fulfil further requirements, such
as the EC directive on electromagnetic
compatibility (2004/108/EEC)

intended for use in potentially explosive at-
mospheres.

4. Description and application
Due to its design, the HLE 7 L EN cap lamp is
particularly suitable as working and inspec-
tion lamp for head race tunnelling as well as
for work in sewage systems.
The cap lamp is composed of a headpiece
and a battery container both of which are
connected by means of a highly flexible
neoprene-sheathed cable.
The charging connection and the nickel-
cadmium accumulators are accommodated
on a tray (supply unit) in the battery container.
The contact bushing is located on the side of
the battery container.
The flowing charging current is indicated by a
light emitting diode in the cover of the battery
container (RED for fast charge, GREEN for
trickle charge).
The battery container is fitted with two
laterally arranged carrying loops for taking a
belt. It is protected by a leather case.
The headpiece is fitted with a rotary switch
with three switch positions:
- ON (main filament)
- OFF
- ON (secondary filament)
