After installation, the installer should train the surgery staff with practical demonstrations
for amalgam container replacement and fi lter cleaning on new and therefore not contami-
nated machines.
Installation, connection, mounting, maintenance and other work on the amalgam separator
must be entrusted to technicians who have been specially trained in the dental fi eld and
who are authorized by the manufacturer. The aspirated liquid is contaminating and infect -
ed, therefore we recommend to take all the necessary precautions to prevent personal and
environmental contamination. Bad running can also lead to contamination.
• General warnings and biological risk
• Before starting any servicing operation on appliances which have been used, carry out a
series of rinses with a suitable disinfectant.
• Disconnect the centrifugal separator from the mains supply and padlock the isolating
switch, if present.
• Before starting any maintenance work, wear gloves, goggles, mask and disposable over
-alls.
The centrifugal separator pressurises aspirated liquid and forces it inside the Hydro -
cyclone. In case of a failure of a pipe or of a component under pressure biological risk is
more serious.
• Routine maintenance entrusted to specially instructed surgery
staff (draw. 3 page 42)
• Electrical shock risk : also 230 V
• General danger sign.
• Biological danger, risk of infections from epidemic diseases.
• Compulsory direction of fl ow or of rotation.
1) After each surgical operation or particularly long operations, aspirate abundant clean water to
rinse the suction piping.
2) At the end of each working day, clean and disinfect the appliance using a specifi c product for
dental aspirators and amalgam separators. We suggest, for example, Puli-Jet plus (for dilution
with water, refer to our directions). Do not use aggressive or foaming products.
3) The dirty fi lter (14) must be replaced every day. Handle it with care to prevent contamination
and the return of solid trapped particles into the fi lter. Any material trapped in the fi lter must be
collected and disposed of according to the regulations in force.
4) We recommend placing one disinfectant antifoam tablet in the dental unit secretion fi lter every
morning before starting the aspiration.
can be lethal.
