IMPORTANT: The instruction manual you are holding includes essential information on the safety measures to be implemented
for installation and start-up. Therefore, the installer as well as the user must read these instructions before beginning
installation and start-up.
Keep this manual for future reference.
This manual has been drawn-up particularly for the installer of the diatom separator and the people responsible for this
maintenance. By following the advice given here, the result of many years of experience in filtering systems, you will achieve
unmatchable quality and clear water of your swimming pool.
1.- CHECK THE CONTENTS OF THE PACK
The D.E. separator pack includes:
- D. E. Separator.
- Two reduction sleeves 2"-1"½.
- O-rings for water inlet and outlet connections.
- Instructions manual.

2.- OPERATION PRINCIPLE

The purpose of the separator is to collect up the D.E. in suspension in the water. To do this, the D.E. separator contains a
special fabric bag inside, to collect the D.E. earth container in the water coming from the washing operation of the filter. At the
same time, it lets the water, free of diatoms, pass through to the swimming pool.
Once all D.E. from the filter have been collected by the separator, the gate valve to the separator is closed, the water is
emptied, and the D.E. are contained inside the bag of the separator. The D.E. can then be put in a suitable container.
3.- INSTALLATION

To correctly install the separador, it should placed on a flan surface as near as possible to the filter, preferably under the water
level of the swimming pool, and protected from extreme weather temperatures (frosts,...). It is advisable for the separator to be
near a drain, for easy access and in order to be near a drain, for easy emptying.
There should be sufficient space around the filter (minimum 450 mm.) for easy access and in order to be able to conduct
maintenance operations properly.
A ball valve must be placed at the outlet of the separator for correct use of the product. It is also advisable to install a valve at
the inlet of the separator, so that it can be isolated if necessary.
To avoid charge losses in the piping as much as possible, install the separator-filter unit as near as possible to the swimming
pool, and use piping of the same diameter as the separator connections.
The following points should be considered when installing:
- Always use plastic accessories for connections.
- Bear in mind that couplings are sealed by joins, and therefore it is not necessary to tighten the nuts too much. Do not use
teflon tape.
4.- START-UP
After installing the separator following the instructions in the corresponding section of this manual, the system can be started
up, following these steps:
- Turn the pump off and place the selector valve of the filter in the washing position.
- Open the valve located at the outlet of the D.E. separator. If a valve has been installed at the inlet of the separator, it must
be opened.
- Open the air purge of the separator cover.
- Turn on the pump.
- Once all the air contained inside the separator has been purged out, close the air purge.
- Leave the system operating in this position until the filter has been purged out, close the air purge.
- Turn the pump off, place the selector valve in the filtering position and isolate the separator by means of the corresponding
valve (s).
5.- CLEANING THE D.E. SEPARATOR
It is recommended to clean the bag of the separator after each washing operation of the filter.
Follow these steps to clean the separator:
- Isolate the separator from the rest of the installation by closing the corresponding valves.
- Open the air purge to empty the separator.
- Open the water purge to empty the separator.
- Once the separator is empty, remove its upper cover. Unscrew the nut from the cover. To do this operation, lift the safety
lever which is under the nut.
- Undo the fastening cord of the bag in the holder.
- Remove the bag with the D.E.
- Dispose of the D.E.
- Place the bag back in the holder. If necessary, remove the holder from inside the separator to simplify assembly. Firmly
place the cord of the bag on the holder.
