1.3 THE ANCHOR LINE (cable)
1.3.1 - Cable:
REFERENCE: FA 20 200 99
Materials: STAINLESS STEEL 316
Structure: Ø 8 mm, 7x19, metal core wire
Resistance > 36 kN
Weight: 0.28 kg/m
The KRATOS SAFETY anchor line is made to suit to the length of the installation.
1.3.2 Top end:
The top end of the anchor line may be connected in two different ways:
Factory crimp with sleeves and thimble loop
Manual crimping with factory-made or site-made crimping screed.
The advantage of this solution is that you can adapt the upper end of the cable directly on the installation site when several ladders
must be equipped. The length of the cable can therefore be adapted to the length. It also gives a neater finish.
To understand the assembly method for this type of attachment, please watch the demonstration video on the following web link:
This method must be well understood and implemented. This type of assembly must be carried out by trained and competent
people. Kratos cannot be held responsible in case of poor assembly.
When you have finished crimping, apply coloured lacquer to the cable and tube which will act as an indicator in case the cable slips
inside the tube.
Depending on the situation, the top end of the anchor line may:
Connect the cable directly to the top point with a steel connector (EN362). Check that the connector is properly closed and
locked!
If an absorber is fitted to the top point: Connect the cable directly to the swivelling part of the absorber, using the fastenings
supplied with the absorber. Tighten the nut without over-tightening, making sure that at least 2 threads are visible on the screw
after tightening.
The connection between the top anchorage point (or the absorber) and the anchor line plays a key role in the event of a fall; pay particular attention to it.
1.4
INTERMEDIATE ATTACHMENT POINTS:
REFERENCE: FA 20 202 00
Materials: STAINLESS STEEL 316
Fastenings: STAINLESS STEEL (316 A4-70)
Weight: 0.650 kg
KRATOS SAFETY intermediate attachment points hold the cable over the length of the structure. When it is held in this way, the cable does not damage the structure,
and vice-versa. The system user passes these intermediate points without needing to disconnect the fall prevention device from the anchor line.
They should be installed every 8 metres. We recommend spreading the spaces evenly on either side of an intermediate part.
Tools needed:
Two 13mm spanners or 2 adjustable spanners.
Installation:
Prepare the intermediate attachment point making sure it is aligned with the top anchorage point.
Fix the intermediate attachment point with its backing plate using the fastenings supplied.
Installing this type of assembly does not require tightening with a torque wrench.
The fastenings and any accessories supplied are designed to suit your situation; if in doubt contact us!
1.5
BOTTOM ATTACHMENT POINTS:
The bottom attachment point and the anchor line tensioning system determine the type of installation that you will have: EN353-1 or EN353-2.
Case 1: Installation of an EN353-1 system: Mobile fall prevention system on a rigid anchor line: the installation is fitted with a tensioner on the
cable.
In this case, the bottom attachment is the same as the top attachment; refer to the "TOP ANCHORAGE POINT" paragraph for installation.
Case 2: Installation of an EN353-2 system: Mobile fall prevention system on a flexible anchor line: the installation is fitted with a counterweight on
the cable.
In this case, follow the instructions below.
