Warning
1. The blocfor is a retractable lifeline conforming to standard EN
360. This device can only be used by one person wearing a
fall arrest harness (EN 361).
2. The blocfor must only be used for fall arrest protection.
3. The blocfor may only be used by a trained and/or competent
person, or the user must be directly supervised by such a
person.
4. Before use, the manual for this product and those for the
attachments used with this product must be read in detail
(figure 1.a) and their instructions followed. The user's manual
must be supplied and kept with every system or component.
5. Never use the blocfor if there are any doubts concerning its
safety. It is recommended that a visual check is carried out
before each use. Check that the lanyard is in good condition
along its entire length (figure 3.a), that the lanyard locks
when it is pulled sharply at the end (figure 3.b) and that its full
length winds and unwinds normally. Check the condition of
the housing (no deformation, screws available, etc) and the
connectors. The fall indicator must not be visible on the
connector located on the end of the lanyard (figure 3.d). Also
check the condition of the attachments. Return any blocfor
which is damaged and/or does not operate to Tractel, or to
your distributor.
6. This device must be inspected annually by a competent
person (Tractel or a repairer approved by Tractel). The
lifetime of this device is 10 years.
7. Tractel accepts no responsibility for the consequences of any
modification and/or dismantling (figure 2.d) of the blocfor, or
any use, storage or maintenance carried out differently from
that shown in figure 4.
8. Caution: If the system has been subject to a fall, all the
attachments must be checked by Tractel or by a competent
person.
9. The instructions for attaching components together to create
a fall arrest system must be followed in accordance with
standard EN 363.
10. During use, the fastenings must be checked. Check also that
the device is not likely to be damaged by sharp edges,
friction, sources of heat, chemical products, abrasion, etc.
11. The blocfor must be transported in its packaging.
12. Important: If you are responsible for assigning this equipment
to an employee or similar person, please ensure that you
comply with the applicable health and safety at work
regulations.

Recommendations for use (see figures 1 and 2 on page 2) :
The blocfor must be connected to a structure (with strength S ≥
10 kN), by its connector. The user must be connected to the bloc-
for by the fall arrest D ring on his harness (figure 1.b), via the
automatic locking connector and fall indicator located at the end
of the blocfor lanyard.
The user must limit his movement to 20° vertically and horizon-
tally (figures 1.c and 1.d).
Use the Marine blocfor for marine environment conditions. The
blocfor must be protected against products entering the housing
(paint, sand, mud, etc).
Operating limits (see figure 1 on page 2) :
The maximum human load that can be held by the blocfor is 150
Kg.
Operating temperature:
wire rope blocfors.
The steel, stainless steel and synthetic wire rope blocfors are
approved for use vertically and on roofs (figure 1.f). The blocfor
30 and 30SR are only approved for vertical use.

Operation
+ -35°C to 50°C for the textile blocfor.
+ -35°C to 60°C for the stainless steel and steel
• using a device that has not been serviced in the last 12
months,
• letting go of the lanyard when it is not completely re-wound
(figure 2.a),
• use of a device which has stopped a fall and which has not
been serviced,
• using one device for the fall protection of a number of
people,
• preventing the rewinding of the lanyard when it is not
tensioned,
• attaching the device by any means other than its anchora-
ge point,
• hindering the self-alignment of the device in relation to the
lanyard,
• using the lanyard as a sling hoisting device,
• opening the blocfor and lubricating or oiling the mechanism,
• tampering with the fall indicator.
CAUTION
Before and during use, you must consider how any
necessary rescue operation could be efficiently and safely
carried out.
