5.3.
Working pressure
It is important to keep the sum of the inlet pressure plus the maximum pressure of the pump at zero capacity,
always lower than the maximum allowed working pressure (PN).
5.4.
Before handling the product, check its weight to identify suitable lifting equipment.
Position the hoist cables.
Take the pump out of its packing and check that it is in good condition. Check also that the plate data correspond
to those required. In the event of any anomaly, contact the supplier immediately, reporting the nature of the
defects.
5.5.
Functioning for a long time at a lower level than the minimum allowed on the data plate may cause excessive and
dangerous overheating of the pump.
5.6.
C
M
Please use a suction line (2) having the same diameter as the suction port (1) of the pump. If the suction height
Y
(HA) exceeds 4 m, however, it is recommendable to use a 25% larger diameter - including appropriate reducer
elements for the connectors.
CM
The intake of the suction line has to be equipped with a check valve (3) - or non-return valve - and an intake lter
MY
(4). The lter will keep away larger dirt particles contained in the water which might clog or even damage the
CY
piping. The check valve will prevent the pressure to escape after the pump has cut out. Moreover, it simpli es the
venting of the suction line by enabling water to be lled in. The check valve with the intake lter - i.e. the entirety
CMY
of the intake section of the suction port - must be immersed by at least 0.3 m below the surface of the liquid to be
K
pumped (HI). This will prevent air from being taken in. In addition, please ensure a su cient distance of the
suction line from both the ground and the sides of water courses, rivers, ponds etc in order to prevent stones,
plants etc from being sucked in.
5.7.
The pressure line (11) conveys the liquids to be discharged from the pump to the point of withdrawal. To avoid
dynamic ow losses, one should use a pressure line having at least the same diameter as the pressure port (5) of
the pump. To protect the pump from damage caused by pressure surges it is advisable to equip the pressure line
with a check valve (6) to be installed directly downstream the pump outlet.
Also, to facilitate maintenance work, it is recommendable to install a shut-o cock (7) after the pump and check
valve. This is a useful feature since it can be closed when the pump has to be dismantled and will thus prevent
the pressure line from draining to empty.
5.8.
The electric pump must ALWAYS be rmly xed to a concrete base or to a metal structure of a size and weight to
suit the size and weight of the electric pump, using screws suitable for the xing holes provided.
vibration, it is recommended to apply an anti-vibration material - for instance a rubble layer - between the pump
and the installation surface.
Use the baseplate as a template for marking out the drill holes. Place the unit in the required position, insert a
punch or pin through the holes in the baseplate to mark the position of the drill holes.
Put the device aside, then use a suitable drill for pre-drilling the four holes. Place the device back into the desired
position, then fasten it there using suitable screws and washers.
Verifying maximum pressure
Handling
Observe the accident prevention regulations in force. Risk of crushing. The pump may be
heavy. Use suitable lifting methods and always wear personal protection equipment.

Minimum rated capacity

The pump must never operate with the discharge valve closed for more than 5 seconds.
Installation of the suction line
The intake of the suction line has to be equipped with a check valve (or non
an intake lter.
