• Be aware that battery acid is corrosive. In case of contact
with skin or eyes, rinse the affected area(s) immediately
with plenty of water and consult a doctor. If battery acid
gets onto fabrics, it will dissolve them within 24–48 hours
if left untreated, and can also attack parts of the body that
come into contact. Rinse the affected area(s) immediately
with plenty of water and change your clothing if necessary.
Risk of electric shock
• Do not attempt to service or repair the product yourself.
Leave any and all service work to quali ed experts.
• Do not open the product. Do not continue to operate the
product if it is damaged, which may be indicated by smoke,
odour or loud noises. Immediately contact your dealer or
our service department (see item "Service and Support").
• Never place the product on the battery.
4. Proper use
The product is intended for charging 6 and 12-volt lead-acid
batteries (liquid electrolyte, gel, maintenance-free (MF), AGM)
and 12.8-V 4-cell lithium iron phosphate batteries (LiFePO4) in
motor vehicles (motorcycle, scooter, car, old-timer).

5. Product features
The charger is microprocessor-controlled and works through a
series of different charging steps. It is thus able to charge the
battery types speci ed under Point 4 to almost 100% of their
capacity.

Where vehicles are left standing for longer time periods, the
charger can remain continuously connected; through trickle
charging, it can reliably prevent battery discharge.
5.1 Automatic voltage detection
The charger automatically detects whether the battery for
charging is a 6 or 12-volt battery.
5.2 Charging steps
• Charging step 1: Check
General check of the connected battery (reverse polarity) and
the current voltage before actual charging.
• Charging step 2: Preparation for charging
Depending on the results from Step 1, a recovery is
performed for sulphated batteries. Success will depend on
the battery's state of wear and level of sulphation. This is
part of the standard charging programme and does not
replace the Recover special programme (see Point 6.5).
• Charging step 3: Soft start
Check of the battery's charging capability. Detects deeply
discharged or sulphated batteries ('chemically dead') and
protects against the charging of defective batteries.
• Charging step 4: Bulk
If the check results indicate that everything is ne, the battery
is charged to up to 80% of its capacity with full charging
current. This step is shown on the display by means of the
bars inside the battery symbol: 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%.
• Charging steps 5–6: Absorption
Gently charges the battery to its full capacity with a
decreasing charging current.
• Charging step 7: Trickle charge 1
In this step, merely a minimal, constant charging current is used
to keep the battery at 100% capacity. If more current is needed
to maintain the capacity, the charger switches to Step 8.
• Charging step 8: Pulse charging
The battery is constantly monitored and is continually
brought to full capacity with a pulsed charging current. This
cycle can be used for storage of the battery or for a vehicle
that is left standing for a longer time period. The charger can
remain continuously connected during this time.
5.3 Memory/reset function
The charger automatically stores the last charging mode
(charging programme and charging step) when it is discon-
nected from the battery or the power cable is removed.
If the stored charging mode is not compatible with a different
connected battery, the charger is automatically reset and
remains in Standby mode.
