-
Connect the output of the TEC250 to a suitable input of your amplifier using the stereo RCA (phono)
lead supplied. The input should be suitable for a line level signal and will be marked LINE, CD, AUX or
something similar.
-
Connect the mains lead to the IEC socket on the rear of the unit and connect to a suitable mains outlet.
-
Before turning on the unit set all the volume controls at minimum both on the TEC250 and on the
amplifier. Turn all your input devices on first with no signal playing then switch on the TEC250, the
amplifier should be turned on last. Starting this way avoids any large 'pops' or other speaker damaging
signals.
-
Start your audio source playing and slowly raise the channel volume control until the VU meter indicator
starts to light, you may need to adjust the crossfader, this indicates that you have an output signal. The
ideal setting is so that the level of the signal on the VU meter is around 0dB position. Next turn the
volume of the amplifier up. By adjusting the levels of the channel volume and amplifier volume you can
achieve your desired music level.
-
With headphones connected you can monitor the input of either of the three channels regardless of the
position of the crossfader of individual channel volume. Press the cue button of the channel to hear it in
the headphones, the LED will light to show when the channel is selected.
-
The Cue pan control is used to move between normal and split cue. In normal cue mode the signal in
the headphones is what has been selected by the cue switches. In Split Cue mode the signal in the
LEFT is the selected cue channel and the signal in the RIGHT is the output of the mixer – this is
particularly useful when using the mixer without monitor speakers.
-
The gain and Eq controls for each channel can be used to adjust the sound from each channel to
correct any defects in the levels of the signal for example a quiet signal can be made louder or a too
'bassy' sound can be made less bassy.
-
The crossfader is used to 'fade' between channels 1 and 2 when 'hard left' only channel 1 is passed to
the amplifier, similarly when 'hard right' only channel 1 is passed to the amplifier and when in the middle
both signals are equally mixed.
-
The microphone input has a small equaliser (Bass and Treble) to allow you to adjust the sound of the
microphone. The microphone has its own volume control to adjust the level of the signal.
REPLACEABLE CROSSFADER
-
Even under normal operation the crossfader may become worn or damaged due to frequent use/abuse.
Fortunately it is user replaceable (contact your SKYTEC retailer for suitable part) and requires no more
tools than a suitable Philips screwdriver.
-
It is important to disconnect the unit from the mains supply before you begin.
-
Remove the two large screws and lift the crossfader unit out of the mixer.
-
The crossfader is connected by a non reversible connector that should be easy to disconnect.
-
Attach the new crossfader to the plug and replace in to the mixer with the connector facing upwards as
before to ensure that the crossfader is orientated correctly.
-
Replace the two screws.
PRECAUTIONS
-
Ensure that the AC power is off before making any connections.
-
Don't use any spray cleaners as residue will cause excessive dirt build up and damage the controls.
Under normal use slide controls will last for many years. Repairs or replacement other then those
contained in this manual should be undertaken by a qualified professional technician.
-
Use appropriate cables.
-
Turn amps on last and off first – this will reduce transients that may cause speaker damage.
-
Repeated 'banging' of the controls against their physical limits can cause damage.
-
When all LEDs of the VU meter are lit (including the red) the output signal is trying to rise above the
capacity of the mixers output and will result in signal 'clipping' and distortion. This in turn will be
overloading the input of your amplifier and may cause damage.
Do not attempt to make any repairs yourself. This would invalid your warranty.
Do not make any changes to the unit. This would also invalid your warranty.
The warranty is not applicable in case of accidents or damages caused by inappropriate use or disrespect of the warnings
contained in this manual.
