25. Troubleshooting

Possible Problem
The wood does not light or lights only slowly.
The wood burns without a bright, yellow flame, smoulders, or even goes out.
Too much soot is produced; the heat-resisting slabs do not stay clean and free of soot during
operation.
The fire box window becomes sooty.
The wood burns too quickly.
Smoke escapes into the room while the stove is in operation.
The chimney becomes wet and coated with creosote, condensate leaks out of the stove pipe.
Although the fire burns well, the stove does not get warm.
Smoke escapes when the fire box door is opened.
- The wood is too thick. / The wood is too damp.
- The air supply is inadequate.
- The wood is too damp.
- The air supply is inadequate. / The butterfly valve is closed too tightly.
- The outside temperature is too high.

- The fire is still burning too strongly.

- Fans (bathroom, kitchen) are creating negative pressure in the living room
and drawing smoke from the stove.
