Taking into operation
5.1
Connecting the battery:
For safety reasons, when it is supplied, the battery is not
connected to the electronics of the portable search light .
5.1.1 Opening the battery compartment (fig. 3):
The portable search light may be opened outside of hazardous
areas only!
-
Pull out the slide for increasing the steadfastness located on the
underside of the portable search light (fig. 3, item 1).
-
Unscrew the screw using the provided screwdriver (fig. 3, item 2).
-
Remove the base of the search light.
-
To put it into operation, connect the flat plug of the battery (fig. 4).
The interlock of the flat plug must snap.
-
Insert the battery into the battery compartment (fig. 4.1).
-
Stow the flat plug and cables in the battery compartment
(fig. 4.2 and 4.3).
5.1.2 Close the battery compartment (fig. 5):
Do not damage the connection leads.
-
Lay the connection leads carefully in the base. They must not be
crushed when assembling the portable search light. Damaged
connection leads shall be replaced immediately by Cooper
Crouse-Hinds (CCH) or an electrician who has been trained
according to
IEC/EN 60079-17 .
-
Position the base at the rear edge of the portable search light (fig. 5,
item 1).
-
Close the base and the search light, pressing carefully on the side
walls of the base (fig. 5, item 2).
-
Tighten screw (test torque approx. 1.0 Nm).
5.2
Putting into operation for the first time:
Please charge immediately the battery after receiving the search
light
Refer to the operating instructions for the respective CCH/CEAG charger
unit being used!
The type SEB 10 L portable search light can be charged either directly
from the mains (220 – 250 V, 50/60 Hz), or by means of the LG 443
charger or the motor vehicle charger 90.
The type SEB 10 search light may only be charged in the LG 443 charger
or in the motor vehicle charger 90.
-
Prior to operation, check the correct functioning and undamaged
condition in accordance with these operating instructions and other
applicable regulations!
-
The portable search light may be opened or charged outside of
hazardous areas only!
-
Make sure that the mains plug is clean and dry!
Before putting the search light into operation for the first time, it is
necessary to carry out a complete charging/discharging/charging cycle,
whereby the battery is formatted, the full battery capacity is ensured and
the monitoring electronics initialized.
The four green LEDs of the capacity display on the side light up in
sequence (chaser light) until the battery is fully charged. When the battery
has been fully charged, the LEDs change to a continuous green light.
After use, always put the search light back into the charger unit
or connect the internal charger to the mains. In this way, the full life
cycle of the battery is maintained.

5.3
Note:
After the search light has been connected to a supply source, the
charging process starts automatically It can take up to 15 minutes
until the first LED of the capacity display starts flashing.
Note:
During the charging process the functions of the light are switched off,
regardless of the switch setting.
If the mains voltage is interrupted, depending on the switch setting, the
portable search light switches on (emergency lighting function).
At the end of the charging process, the flashing light of the leading LED
goes off (fig. 2).
In case all LEDs do not all light up after the charging process has been
completed, the battery is worn out and might be replaced.
If the search light is stored in the charging position, any lost energy due to
self-discharging is replaced.
In case no LEDs flash during the charging process of the discharged
battery, it is necessary to check the charger unit (e.g. with a second
portable search light).
6.
As far as the maintenance, servicing and test of electrical
apparatus for explosive atmospheres are concerned, the respective
national regulations in conjunction with the relevant standards will
be applicable (IEC/EN 60079-17)!
6.1
Carrying out a complete charging/discharging/charging process once a
year is recommended to update the capacity display on the side.
6.2
In the event of a malfunction of the search light, e.g. an electronics
malfunction, disconnecting the battery plug in the battery compartment
for approx. 3 seconds and then reconnecting is recommended.
If the search light cannot be reset and the malfunction still exists after
this, it is necessary to send the portable search light for repair -
see section 7 .
6.3
The battery may only be replaced in the "non-hazardous area"!
The label with details of the permissible battery types can be seen
after opening the battery compartment.
1. Switch off the portable search light and, where applicable,
2. Push the slide under the battery compartment back until the socket
3. Undo the socket head screw with the screwdriver provided and
Avoid a short circuit! !
4. Disconnect flat plug connections (fig. 4) and remove the battery.
5. Put in the new battery and connect.
6. Position the base at the rear edge of the search light (fig. 5, item 1).
