Troubleshooting
You can often easily eliminate problems that may occur
on your own. Before calling customer service, take into
account the following information.
Malfunction
Appliance does not heat up. Left illu-
minated ring flashing, right illumi-
nated ring lit.
Appliance does not heat up. Right-
hand illuminated ring flashes fast,
left illuminated ring is off.
Appliance is not working. Both illu-
minated rings flash alternately fast.

Possible cause
Drain valve is open.
Overheating protection: cooking
basin is empty or has been boiled
empty.
Cooking liquid under the minimum
mark.
Overheating protection: appliance
has been operated for too long in the
steam cooking setting without the
glass cover.
Overheating protection: very hot
water has been poured into the cook-
ing basin.
Overheating protection: the cooking
basin is clogged with scale. On the
base of the cooking basin, you can
see the shape of the heating coil as a
white coating.
Safety shut-off: appliance has not
been operated in the past four hours
(8 hours if the temperature setting is
below 150° F (70°C)).
Power outage: after a power outage,
the appliance stays switched off for
safety reasons.

Incorrect repairs are dangerous. Repairs may only
be carried out by an authorized servicer. If the
appliance is not functioning properly, unplug the
power cord or switch off the fuse in the fuse box.

Solution
Close the drain valve after draining off the cooking
liquid. The appliance does not warm up when the
drain valve is open. If leftovers are blocking the drain
valve, open it again. Then carefully use a suitable
object such as the handle of a wooden spoon to
remove the leftovers.
Turn off the appliance. Top up cooking liquid up to at
least the minimum mark. Allow the appliance to cool
down.
Turn off the appliance and let it completely cool
down. Fit the glass cover in the steam cooking set-
ting.
Turn off the appliance and let it completely cool
down. Fill the cooking basin with cold water.
Turn off the appliance and let it completely cool
down. Wipe out the basin with a water and vinegar
mixture or a descaling agent that is not harmful to
foodstuffs. Rinse thoroughly with clear water.
Turn the right control knob to 0 and then switch on
again, if necessary.
Turn the right control knob to 0 and then switch on

Check correct fitting of the connecting cable to the
control panel.
