USER INSTRUCTIONS
Local, national, and European regulations and
standards regarding the use of this appliance must
be observed.
Read chapter 1.1 Safety and 2.1 Air intake
requirements.
Read Chapter 6: Troubleshooting.
3.1. FUEL
Your Flamebox insert works exclusively with
firewood, as such, the performance largely
depends on the quality of the firewood used. To
obtain the performance indicated in the manual, the
firewood to be used must be dry. To achieve a
humidity level of less than 20% (dry firewood), the
firewood must be cut and split, and then stored in a
ventilated place protected from rain and where it is
not in direct contact with the ground. The minimum
drying time under the conditions described above is
12 to 24 months.
The use of green and/or damp firewood produces
inefficient burning: less heat and more pollutant
emissions. Damage caused to the equipment using

green and/or damp firewood is not covered by the
warranty (see chapter 5 - Warranty).
We recommend the use of hard wood (oak, black
locust, maple, white ash, black walnut, elm, birch),
and for lighting you may use soft wood to facilitate
ignition. The recommended size of firewood is that
that set out in chapter 1.1 "Technical and Safety
Characteristics".
The maximum permitted load must under no
circumstances be exceeded. In each load, 1 or 2
firewood logs should be used. The firewood must
be split. It is prohibited to use treated, varnished or
painted wood and wood pellets. It is not
recommended to use resinous firewood (e.g. pine)
but if used, hard firewood should always be mixed.
The use or adaptation of equipment to burn fuels
other than natural firewood, e.g. liquid firelighter, oil,
pellets, plastics or coal, is not authorized and is
against the warranty conditions.
In case of chimney fire, remove the
embers from the equipment, close the air
baffle and call the fire department.
3.2. LIGHTING A FIRE - INSTRUCTIONS
Before starting the first fire, make sure that there are
no foreign objects inside the stove or in the ash
drawer, namely the instruction manual, warranty,
glove and other accessories supplied with the
equipment. You should also make sure that the
stickers stuck to the glass (energy efficiency for
example) have been properly removed.
Note: The high temperature paint used to protect
your Flamebox equipment will dry and harden after
the first fire. During the initial two hours, smoke and
odor (non-toxic) appear naturally. During this
period, the house must be well ventilated.
The first fire should be carried out at a time
when the house can be aired.
To light the fire:
1. Make sure that there is no extraction device
(kitchen or bathroom exhaust fan) in operation that
could cause smoke to escape.
2. To start the fire, you must open the air intake. Pull
the air baffle to the fully open position (towards the
user).
