Safety, performance, and dependability have been given
top priority in the design of your plunge router.
INTENDED USE
The plunge router is intended to be used only by adults who
have read and understood the instructions and warnings
in this manual and can be considered responsible for their
actions.
It is designed for normal and plunge routing of wood and
similar materials. It is intended to be used by a single
operator while holding both of the handles and guiding
the base of the router smoothly across the surface of the
workpiece. The workpiece should be securely clamped in
place to a work bench or similar fi xture. The operator should
never attempt to operate the router and hold the workpiece
at the same time.
It is designed to be fi tted with router bits with straight shanks
that are compatible with the 6, 8 or 12 mm collet-type bit
holding system and which have a maximum speed rating
equal to or greater than the maximum speed of the router.
The plunge router can be used for:
■
Cutting grooves and shaping edges in wood.
■
Freehand cutting of letters, grooves, and patterns in
wood
■
Chamfering, rebating, dadoing, and dovetailing in wood.
The router is not intended to be mounted on a fi xture or
workbench unless specifi c instructions about how to do this
are given by the manufacturer of the router.
Do not use the plunge router in any way not described in
this manual.

ROUTER SAFETY WARNINGS
■
Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces
only, because the cutter may contact its own cord.
Cutting a "live" wire may make exposed metal parts
of the power tool "live" and could give the operator an
electric shock.
■
Use clamps or another practical way to secure and
support the workpiece to a stable platform. Holding
the work by your hand or against the body leaves it
unstable and may lead to loss of control.
■
If the product is provided for the connection of dust
extraction and collecting equipment, ensure these are
connected and properly used.
■
Always use bits of the correct shank diameter according
to the available collet dimmension. Only use bits
manufactured according to EN 847-1. Do not use
damaged bits.
■
Always wear protective eye wear when operating the
router. When necessary, wear a dust mask appropriate
to the material being cut.
■
Keep mains lead clear from the working range of the
product. Always lead the cable away behind you.
■
Never reach into the area near the cutting bit when the
router is running.
■
Chips and splinters must not be removed while the
product is running.
■
Do not use router bits with maximum speed rating less
than the maximum speed of the router. Router bits may
come apart and cause serious personal injury.
■
Use only rotary cutting bits of the correct shank diameter
for the collet mounted.
■
Use only rotary cutting bits suitable for the speed of the
product.
WARNING
Always feed the product into the workpiece against
the rotational direction of the bit. Feeding in the same
rotational direction of the bit may cause the product to
jump up from the workpiece, resulting in loss of control.
RESIDUAL RISKS
Even when the product is used as prescribed, it is still
impossible to completely eliminate certain residual risk
factors. The following hazards may arise and the operator
should pay special attention to avoid the following:
■
Injury caused by vibration
–
Limit exposure. See Risk Reduction.
■
Injury caused by flying debris
–
Wear eye protection at all times.
■
Injury caused by dust
–
Wear eye protection at all times. Wear appropriate
dust mask with suitable filters that can protect
against particles from the material being worked on.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke in the work area. Ensure
adequate ventilation.
■
Injury caused by electric shock
–
The cutting bit may contact hidden wiring causing
parts of the product to become live. Always hold the
product by the designated handles and take care
when blind cutting into walls and floors where cables
