Operating Principle
The product is fed into a drum where it is separated by centrifugal force. The centrifugal force
forces the product through small intermittent discs. The skim milk and cream are separated in
opposite directions (according to the difference in density) between the discs.
Skim milk flows from the inner wall of the bowl to the heavy phase centrifugal pump. The heavy
phase is extracted from the separator under pressure by a centrifugal pump. Cream moves from
the center of the bowl to the light phase centrifugal pump. The light phase is extracted from the
separator under pressure by a centrifugal pump. The back pressure valves in the discharge pipes
can be adjusted to set the liquid interface in the bowl. The heavy solids accumulate on the outer
wall of the bowl and are discharged from the separator during partial and / or full cleaning at
periodic intervals. Although the solid phase is discharged only during the partial cleaning process,
the entire volume of the bowl is discharged during the full release operation. The frequency of
partial and full cleaning can be set via the HMI interface with the PLC control software.
