Position of the drainova® Reservoir during drainage
The drainage of fluid is assisted by the force of gravity. Therefore please
ensure that the drainova® Reservoir is always positioned under the cat-
heter exit site whilst draining.
During drainage, make sure that no pressure is applied to the reservoir.
This could damage the one-way valve and cause contamination from the
backflowing fluid.
Cleaning / disinfection
Should fluid leak out and come into contact with skin, clean the skin
with soap and water. Use suitable cleaning or disinfectant products for
surfaces. Do not use Octenisept® or products containing iodine to clean/
disinfect the catheter or safety valve.
Please observe the reservoir change intervals according to the hygiene regulations of your institution.
Warnings
in relation to your catheter
Never cut through the catheter or cut the safety valve off.
Ensure that the catheter does not come into contact with any sharp objects.
If the functionality of the safety valve cannot be guaranteed or if the safety valve has been cut off by
mistake (i.e. is no longer attached), proceed as follows:
a. firmly pinch the catheter closed with your fingers
b. using your other hand, hold the emergency slide clamp open so that the catheter can be fed
through the open end of the clamp.
c. push the catheter completely through the narrow end of the clamp.
d. Immediately inform a doctor.
a
Only use original accessories.
Do not attempt to connect the catheter to non-original drainage products. Only the specially-develo-
ped access tip can be inserted into the safety valve. The use of foreign items can damage the safety
valve. Incorrect handling can cause air to enter the body or effusion fluid to leak out.
