CATEGORY SAFETY WARNINGS
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Make sure that you use appropriate and certified
personal protective equipment when operating
the product. Make sure that you wear clothing
which does not hamper movements, protective
gloves, dust mask, ear protection and safety
boots with non - slip soles that will help prevent
or reduce injuries.
ULTRAVIOLET AND INFRARED RADIATION
HAZARDS
The arc produces ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR)
rays that can cause injury to youreyes and skin. Do
not look at the arc without proper eye protection.
Always use a helmet that covers your full face
from the neck to top of head and to the back of
each ear with appropriate shade and safety glass-
es. Refer to the ANSI standard Z87.1 for more
information. Wear proper gloves and protective
clothing to prevent your skin from being exposed
to hot metals, UV and IR radiation. Use screens
or other barriers to protect bystanders from the
UV and IR radiation emitted during operation.
Warn people in your work area so they can protect
themselves.
MOVING PARTS HAZARDS
Moving parts can cause serious injury. Avoid con-
tacting such parts when they are still in motion
and make sure that you keep anything that could
be trapped in the operating machine, such as ex-
tremities, loose hair and clothing, away. Do not
touch the moving parts before they come to a
complete stop. Use only the specified handles on
the product. Check for correct alignment of mov-
ing parts or other failures that could be a source
of danger. A damaged guard or other part should
be replaced by an authorized service center be-
fore operating the product.
ELECTRICITY HAZARDS
Make sure that the electric cables of the product
and the mains plug, that it is connected to, are in
good condition and not worn. Never use a dam-
aged product or a product with damaged or worn
electric cables and plugs. Use a socket outlet with
ground contact. Do not expose the product and
the electric cables to wet conditions and never
touch when wet. Make sure that the electric ca-
bles do not come into contact with the hot parts
of the product and also protect them from heat,
oil and sharp objects. Do not use the cable to pull
the plug out of the socket. Use a socket outlet
with ground contact. Do not come in contact with
grounded surfaces or electric cables, to avoid the
risk of electric shock. The voltage and frequency
ratings of the electricity supply must be within
the specifications of the product. When the prod-
uct is to be used outdoors, use only extension ca-
bles intended for outdoor use. The cross section
of any extension cable must be of the appropriate
size and the mains connection must be protected
by an appropriate fuse. Consult a qualified electri-
cian for further instructions.
FIRE AND BURN HAZARDS
Some parts of the product get hot enough during
operation to cause burns and ignite flammable
materials. Do not touch hot parts in order to avoid
getting burned. Allow the machine, tools and
work piece to cool down before touching them.
Make sure that you keep your work area clean and
tidy and do not use the machine near flammable
materials. Remove all flammable materials within
15m of the operating area. If removal is not possi-
ble, tightly cover them with fireproof covers. Take
precautions to ensure that flying sparks do not
cause fires or explosions in hidden spots, cracks
or areas you cannot see. Wear garments that are
oil-free with no pockets or cuffs that will collect
sparks. Keep work lead connected as close to the
weld area as possible to prevent any unknown, un-
intended paths of electrical current from causing
electrical shock and fire hazards. Let the product
cool before storing it. If a fire occurs, use an ap-
propriate fire extinguisher.
POISONING HAZARDS
During the operation fumes are produced which
can result in injury or death. Always make sure
your breathing air is clean and safe. Work only in
a well - ventilated area or use a ventilation de-
vice to remove the fumes from your working en-
vironment. If necessary use a respirator with air
supply or remove the coating from the material
in the cutting area. Do not work on coated mate-
rials (galvanized, cadmium plated or containing
zinc, mercury or barium), as when processed they
emit harmful fumes that are dangerous. Do not
use on or near materials like cleaners, sprays and
degreasers, as fumes emited when heated can be
highly toxic.
