The piston does not move
Low oil level
Retract valve not closed properly
Air in system (pump)
The piston moves forward with no load but not under load

Foreign matter in the suction valve
The piston moves forward but stops before the end of travel
Very low oil level
Container plug closed
The piston moves forward and back with each pump stroke
Foreign body in the outlet valve or air trapped in
conduits
Foreign body in the suction valve having retracted the
piston
The piston moves forward properly under load but the lever retracts suddenly
Foreign body in the check valve having retracted the
piston
Cause
Check oil level
Close the retract valve
Open the retract valve and operate the pump lever to
purge the air. This should be done placing the bender
with the piston pointing up to let the oil migrate to the
distributor
Close the retract valve
Remove the suction valve and clean it, having retracted
the piston
Top up the oil
Open container plug
Place the cylinder in the vertical position and first retract
the piston. Remove the outlet valve and clean it.
Remove the suction valve and clean it.
