AUTO/ FIXED ATTENUATION is on, press
GB
the button to switch off the LED.
c) Select the Update mode for the notch fil-
ters: If the LED of the button HOLD FIL-
TERS is on, press the button to switch off
the LED.
Update mode: If all available filters (12 for
each channel) for feedback elimination have
been set automatically and additional new
feedback frequencies occur, the filters set pre-
viously will be reassigned to the new feedback
frequencies.
7) Gradually set the power amplifier for the
speakers or the output signal of the mixer to
the maximum volume required. In this
process, feedback may occur (use hearing
protectors, if necessary) which the MFE-
16M will eliminate progressively.
8) In the Update mode, the filter frequencies
are permanently matched to new feedback
occurring. If this is not desired, activate the
Hold mode with the button HOLD FILTERS;
the LED above the button lights up.
Hold mode: If all filters for feedback elimination
have been set, they will be locked to the frequen-
cies found. No filters will be available for addi-
tional new feedback frequencies.
To be able to reassign the filters in this mode, set
the control SENSITIVITY to the upper position
BYPASS; the LED of the button HOLD FILTERS
and the LED of the button AUTO/FIXED ATTEN-
UATION start flashing. All filters are reset and
deactivated. Then set the control SENSITIVITY
back to the previous position: All filters will be
reassigned.
9) If the Update mode has been activated (LED
of the button HOLD FILTERS off) and if there
is no more feedback at the maximum volume
required, you may try to reduce the maxi-
mum attenuation of the filters (30 dB) in
10
order to minimize changes in sound due to
the filters.
For this purpose, press the button AUTO /
FIXED ATTENUATION; the LED of the but-
ton lights up. As long as no feedback occurs,
the attenuation of the notch filters is auto-
matically reduced in steps of 2 dB. If feed-
back occurs again, the corresponding filters
will be reset to an attenuation of 30 dB. How-
ever, if the automatic attenuation results in
feedback occurring more frequently, deacti-
vate the function with the button AUTO /
FIXED ATTENUATION.
Note: In the Hold mode (LED above the button
HOLD FILTERS on), the filters are always set to
maximum attenuation. The button AUTO / FIXED
ATTENUATION has no effect in this case.
10) So far the feedback detection has been
set to maximum sensitivity with the control
SENSITIVITY which is the optimum setting
for speech applications. When reproducing
music, you may try to reduce the sensitivity if
there is no more feedback.
For this purpose, gradually turn the con-
trol counterclockwise to the position MIN. As
soon as feedback occurs, turn back the con-
trol accordingly. The lower the sensitivity, the
lower the probability of eliminating frequen-
cies which are part of the music signal and
not feedback frequencies. With a low sensi-
tivity, however, there is a higher risk of feed-
back.
11) After operation, switch off the feedback elim-
inator with the POWER switch. If the unit is
not in use for a longer period of time, discon-
nect the power supply unit from the socket to
prevent unnecessary power consumption.
