INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE USE
IMPORTANT
Do not use the product after the date stamped on
the package.
Read these instructions carefully and keep them in a safe place.
The half mask of 8000 Series have been manufactured in
accordance with the EN 405 standard.
This half mask is classified as a III Category Personal Protection
Device, in accordance with European Regulation 425/2016. For
8000 Series models three versions are produced that are easily
identifiable by means of the marking on the mask. The version
having ABEK1P3 R D filters is marked 8400, while the one having
A2P3 R D filters is marked 8600. The version having A2P2 R D filters
is marked 8100.
This mask must only be used in accordance with the following
instructions. The manufacturer cannot accept any responsibility for
any damage resulting from improper use, the use of pirate parts, or
failure to comply with these instructions.
As an unassisted protection device, this half face mask does not
supply compressed or oxygen-enriched air, but only allows air
purified by the filter(s) to be drawn from the immediate environment,
by the normal breathing process.
This half face mask may only be used where the oxygen level in the
air exceeds 17% by volume. This half face mask may only be used in
environments containing gases with a particular odour or taste. For
the use in potentially explosive environments respect the standards
required by the current safety and on-the-job injuries code. The
operator should replace the mask when he starts to smell gas or an
increasing respiratory effort is detected.
This mask should not be used in confined spaces such as cisterns,
ducts, or underground.
Abandon the area of work immediately if:
- the half face mask has been damaged;
- breathing becomes laboured or difficult;
- symptoms of dizziness and/or fuzziness are felt;
- the nature and concentration of the contaminant is unknown.
Persons that have beard or moustache that protrudes from the mask
should refrain from using this apparatus, as these may impair the fit
and efficiency of the mask.
No alteration must be made to the mask. Any unauthorised
modification, even of a minor nature, shall cause the guarantee to fall
away, as well as any responsibility on the part of the manufacturer
towards third parties.
This half face mask should be used by personnel that are properly
trained and that have the relevant experience.
Masks that are still useable should be kept in a closed container, and
protected from dust, dirt, harsh light humidity, or heat sources. When
moving or storing the masks, make sure that the packaging is intact
and cannot be damaged by sharp objects or materials that could
perforate the filters, and that the filters will not be deformed by being
subjected to excessive loads. For transport use original packaging.
The CE 0426 – EN 405:2001 marking is printed on the half face
mask:
- CE indicates that it complies with the basic health and safety
requirements, as laid down in Annex II of European Regulation
425/2016 and in conformity to EN 405:2001 European Standard.
- The number 0426 identifies the Notified Body ITALCERT S.r.l.-
Viale Sarca, 336 - 20126 Milan (Italy) in charge of control pursuant
to module D of the European Regulation 425/2016
- The number EN 405:2001 identifies the European standard and
the date of its promulgation for Europe. This standard lays down
the minimum requirements for a half masks to be used as a
respiratory system protection device, and also lays down practical
and laboratory tests to be carried out to ensure that the particular
model conforms to the requirements.
The respirator must be stored in environment with temperature range
between -10 °C and +50 °C and with a relative humidity < 80%.
BEFORE USING
This half face mask must always be checked before use. Defective
parts must be replaced before using. In particular:
- Check that the half face mask is clean, and in perfect working order.
Remove the cover of the exhaust valve to check both the cleanliness
of the inside of the valve housing, as well as the valve itself. The
latter must be clean, and free of any deformation or breakage.
- Check that the harness is complete.
- Check all plastic parts for breakage.
CLEANING
The respirators from 8000 Series can be used for more that a single
shift (8 hours). If the wearer decides to re-use the mask this should
be cleaned at the end of each shift according with the following
instructions. Clean the faceseal with a cloth moistened in hot soapy
water (not upper than 40°C). Do not allow the filters to come in
contact with the cloth and/or with the soapy water. Do not immerse
the product in water. Ensure that the mask is completely dry before
placing in storage. Store the respirator in a suitable bag or container
in a dry and non-contamined area. Note the name of the wearer and
the date when the original packaging has been opened.
WEARING
1. Fasten the lower elastic band behind the neck and put the head
into the half-mask, placing the chin in contact with the lower lip of
the mask.
2. Mate the mask on the nose area.
3. Hold the mask in place with one hand while positioning the head
harness with the other hand.
4. Adjust upper straps by pulling in the direction shown in figure 4
and the lower straps by pulling in the direction shown in figure 5. Do
not pull the elastic bands
excessively.
Make sure that the mask is worn with the correct inclination (slightly
downward) to reach the perfect fit.
CHECKING THE FIT
While wearing the mask, close either the filters using the palm of the
hands and take a deep breath. If air does not escape from borders it
is well donned. If different, re-position the mask, increase the tension
on the harness straps, and repeat the test until a suitable result is
obtained.
DISCARD
Contaminated respiratory protective equipments, or components, or
any of the materials used to clean or disinfect respiratory protective
equipments, may need to be considered as hazardous waste. This
will depend upon specific substances wearers are exposed together
with amounts generated. In some cases specific legislation may
apply.
MARKING
Manufacturer's registered Trademark.
Indicates year (central circle) and month (arrow) of production.
8400 and 8600 have a NPF (nominal protective factor) of 33XTLV.
8100 have a NPF (nominal protective factor) of 12XTLV.
R 8000 Series half masks are reusable products.
D 8000 Series meets clogging requirements and is marked D. This
means that they have good performance and long service life even
in very dusty environments.
These Instructions for use have been approved by Italcert (Notified
Body n° 0426), with the release of the EC-Type Certificate of these
products as a III Category Personal Protective Equipments (PPE).
The type of packaging suitable for transporting the PPE is the sales
package.
